Iris, Rhea, Alcaeus, and Benjamin decided to go to a local club for Alcaeus's birthday. It had seemed like a good idea to Iris at the time, but now she wasn't so sure.
Rhea and Iris were seated in a reserved area when Iris spotted Benjamin on the dance floor-talking a little too closely with some blonde girl. Rhea noticed it too and glanced at Iris.
Before Rhea could even say anything, Iris stood up.
She pushed through the crowd, squeezing past people until she finally reached him. Without a word, she grabbed his wrist and pulled him away. She led him down a hallway where it was quieter, though the music still pulsed faintly through the walls.
"What the fuck was that?" Iris demanded, glaring up at him.
Benjamin looked at her blankly. "It was nothing."
"Nothing?" Iris scoffed, her voice rising. "Do you think I'm fucking dumb? It was obvious you were hitting on her."
"Don't fucking raise your voice at me," Benjamin snapped, his tone sharpening as he stepped closer, towering over her and backing her against the wall.
Iris held his gaze, but something in his posture caught her off guard. He didn't usually act like this-so controlling, so aggressive.
Before she could respond, a voice cut in.
"Hey, Ben, Alcaeus is looking for you."
Rhea stepped into the hallway, her eyes flicking between them.
Benjamin hesitated for a second before stepping back from Iris. He gave a short nod and walked off without another word.
Iris exhaled sharply, running her fingers through her hair before rubbing at her eyes, trying to steady herself.
"Sis... are you okay?" Rhea asked softly, stepping closer.
Iris looked at her and slowly nodded, forcing a small smile. "I'm okay. Don't worry about me."
But Rhea didn't believe her.
She had seen the way Benjamin spoke to her-the way he cornered her-and it didn't sit right at all.
