Akana POV
I groan quietly as my eyes opened slowly, the bright light above me making my head spin. I blinked several times, trying to clear the haze from my vision. As my eyes focused, I took in my surroundings. I was in a small, cozy apartment. The walls were a soft beige, and the furniture was old but comfortable-looking.
'How did I get here... am I still alive?'
I sat up slowly, my head still spinning. I looked around the room again, trying to take it all in. I was wearing oversize white shirt. 'Hmm, Why am I wearing a shirt...'
There was a kitchenette in one corner, and a small table with two chairs. But what really caught my attention was the figure standing by the window.
"S-Suguru..." I softly spoke. It was Suguru Geto, his piercing brown eyes fixed intently on me. He was dressed in a black sweater, and black sweatpants, and his hair was half down bun.
As our eyes met, I felt a flutter in my chest. Suguru didn't say anything at first, just continued to stare at me with an unreadable expression. But as I looked at him, I felt a sense of comfort wash over me. He had risked his life to save us, and now he was taking care of me.
After a moment, Suguru spoke up. "How are you feeling?" he asked softly.
I shook my head, still trying to clear the cobwebs from my mind. "A bit dizzy." I admitted.
Suguru Geto nodded sympathetically. "You were badly injured," he said. "But you're going to be okay."
"Wher are the girls, Are they alright?" I asked him in bit for worried.
"They're sleep in my bedroom. You don't need to worry about them and their alright. For now, I'm worried about you, Akana."
He came closer to me, his eyes never leaving mine. "Can I get you some water?" he asked.
I nodded gratefully, and Suguru helped me sit up and handed me a glass of water. As I drank, he sat down beside me on the couch. And then Suguru reached out and brushed a strand of hair behind my ear. It was a gentle touch, but it sent shivers down my spine.
"I'm glad you're okay." he said softly.
I looked up at him, feeling my heart beat faster. "Me too..." I said quietly.
"But, how did you find us?" I asked softly.
Suguru's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled. "I was on a mission in a remote village, I'd been tracking a lead on a group of rogue mercenaries who were causing trouble in the area."
He paused, his expression serious. "I didn't expect to find you with the twins there, but when I did, I knew I had to act fast. They were being held captive by the villagers, who had taken them in and were planning to use them as sacrifices in some kind of dark ritual."
My eyes widened in worried. "Sacrifices?"
Suguru Geto nodded. "Yes. I managed to take out the mercenaries and free you and the twins, but it was a close call. We had to get out of there quickly before the civilians realized what was happening."
Suguru Flashback...
I had reached the village. I investigated the village and deducted the truth about their belief of people being spirited away was indeed the doing of a cursed spirit. I easily exorcised it but was forced inside an inn, where I found two young girls and familiar woman laying on ground unconscious, caged behind bars.
"What is this?" I politely asked the two people, controlling myself as I looked at the innocent girls and familiar woman. As my widen a little bit in shock. 'Akana?!'
