Final Goodbyes

A sudden goodbye was our final goodbye. A simple 'I wish you well'
with words that had flown through, repeatedly,
before that one phrase.

Chains,
breaking above your head,
Your freedom now guaranteed,
Solely because of that one phrase.

Pleas,
I wish I would have begged.
I would have groveled and cried,
More than I cried at least.

To me,
You were my everything.
I broke in your arms,
A feeling I would trade it all for,
Just to feel your arms around me once again,
To hear you say 'I love you,'
One more time.

Goodbye.
I loved you once,
I still love you,
I'll always love you.
