The next morning, you woke up feeling sore from all the crawling in the vents, but your mind was sharper than ever. The events of last night were still fresh, and you couldn't shake the image of those bodies being wheeled into the mysterious room you saw with Reyna.
Speaking of her, you were pretty eager to speak to her again. After crawling out of bed, you and your bunkmates were escorted to the washrooms for a routine shower. Usually, you'd try to stay in there as long as possible and take advantage of their infinite hot water supply, but today was not one of those days.
Today, you weren't just going to wait on Amir to clean up this mess, you were going to take things into your own hands; because things were changing, and not for the better. Jamie wasn't here with you and instead was facing a dangerous situation against desperate people, and you wanted to do what you could to get him out of it.
You quickly showered and dressed in a washed pair of the clothes you had been given when you arrived here. After that, you were taken to a small room for a routine check-up with blood tests, brain scans, and anything else these people needed to stay up to date on your radiance. Today, time seemed to move all the slower, all you had on your mind was getting to the bottom of this mystery with Reyna, and potentially freeing Jamie. It gave you a bigger purpose here than sitting and waiting, and that excited you.
Finally, after the eternity that was the morning and noon time, it was the lunch hour. You speedily grabbed a tray of food and grabbed a serving when it was your turn. Though, you noticed a bucket of tomato sauce next to the pasta being served. Instantly, you were reminded of Jamie, thinking back to his wits on that day.
You missed him, you could say that much, and you're sure he felt the same way; you couldn't imagine being in his situation.
Eventually, you snapped out of it and spotted Reyna at an empty corner table, you made your way over and sat down across from her, getting a few curious looks from other radiants as you sat. She looked up from her food and nodded in acknowledgment.
"Hola, Y/n." Reyna greeted, taking a sip of water.
"Hey..." You started, then your mind went blank as you looked at her, and you felt the awkward silence coming from a mile away. "... uh, how do you know my name?" l
Reyna smirked, holding a paper cup of water to her mouth, "I asked around." she answered, then took a sip.
"Right... and how did THEY know me?"
"Through your friend, Jamie. They said he talks about you, like, way too much." She said in a sassy manner.
"Oh, yeah? Heh, I wouldn't put that past him." You said, feeling instantly bummed that he wasn't sitting at this table. You decided to change the subject to take your mind off it. "So... last night had me thinking since we're probably going to be working together on this... I do want to get to know you a little. If that's fine with you." You asked, ignoring your food and leaning over the table.
Reyna subtly raised her eyebrows, her expression going blank before she sighed, "Why? Of all things, you ask about my past?"
"Sensitive topic, huh?" You said calmly.
"We can work together fine without you knowing that," Reyna said quietly, yet you could hear the anger in her tone. You leaned back, noticing her suddenly distant gaze.
"Hey, I'm just curious, okay? I've just seen you around, and every time I look at you, you're either Mad, Sad, or a mix of the two. I figured it was about what happened before they took you here." You explained.
