Illumi and Hisoka got back to the penthouse after the car ride, and started to get ready to go to the auction.

Hisoka looked around his half empty walk-in closet, to try and fix an outfit. Since he hadn't stayed that that place in a while, the clothes he had there were from a while ago. He ended up finding a black suit; and he used lavender as a boutonnière, instead of the typical rose. As the two weren't actually interested in bidding at the auction, but speaking with the phantom troupe, I WAS A they were looking to disguise themselves as some sort of mafia couple. Hisoka went to his rooms' bathroom, washed off his face paint, and let his hair down. He then left the room, to find...

A stunning Illumi in heels, wearing his gorgeous silk dress, with its sexy slit down the side, that showed off his well defined body. His hair was tied up in a bun behind his head, but a strand remained on either side of his face.
Hisoka was speechless; his mouth hanging slightly open. "Mmh fuck. I'm afraid I'll be distracted this whole evening, I'm not sure I'll be able to keep my eyes off him." He chuckled to himself, biting his lip, yet smiling; as he eyed the breathtaking sight in his presence. Though this wasn't what Hisoka had expected, he found it even better than anything else he could have imagined.

Illumi looked at Hisoka, who was in a suit that fit him perfectly.
"On y va, mon cher." Hisoka said, again in a perfect French accent. "Stop it." Illumi said, blushing hard as he turned away, so Hisoka couldn't see. Hisoka didn't even have to start acting like Illumi's partner until they were at the auction, but he did so anyway.
For...fun.

Illumi's heart started racing as he got closer to Hisoka when he walked over; for reasons unknown to him. Hisoka took his arm, to lead him out of the door, into the elevator. "You do know we only have to act like a couple once we're there, right?" Asked Illumi, raising an eyebrow. "I'm aware," Hisoka chuckled, "I was only practicing."

The two men left the lobby once they got out of the elevator, and Hisoka got the car. Illumi didn't drive; he had drivers when he needed them; for missions or events. From observation though, he knew all the rules. He had actually learned and studied them subconsciously.
"Could I drive?" Illumi asked. "Hmm, sure, just don't get us killed on such a fine evening." Hisoka replied, with a smirk on his face. Hisoka went over to the passenger's side, while Illumi sat down in the driver's seat. Illumi drove down the road, and figured out the navigation for how to get to the Cemetery Building, where the Underground Auction would be held. It didn't take long for him to get used to driving.

Once they arrived at the building, they looked around outside, surprised there were no security guards there, until they both smelled a strong scent of blood. There were no bodies out there, so they headed inside, ready to defend if anyone attacked.

They knew that usually the auction would start later in the evening, and there would be drinks, greetings, and arrivals beforehand; so they had come a bit later.

As soon as they entered the building, they could see a few people panicking and running away from a small group of people, that was scattered around. The smell of blood became more intense inside the building, so they began questioning where all the bodies were; as the group of killers were now more than the people alive, in number. But still no bodies. That's when Illumi caught one  of  them using some kind of vacuum cleaner, to kill people and suck them inside.

That must have been the phantom troupe.
The two of them both knew it, though this wasn't exactly the way they expected to see them for the first time.

Soon enough, Illumi and Hisoka were being chased around, as the phantom troupe tried to kill them. They were impressed by the speed of the troupe members, but it still wasn't enough to get anywhere close to killing them. This had gone on for a while, actually. And Hisoka was starting to get amused. He stopped, and started to speak. "I believe we're the ones, you sent an attack to." "Yes." One of the members said, he was tall, had black hair and grey eyes, and gave off a feeling that he had a distinct power among the group. "Your attackers were pathetic, why didn't you come for us yourselves?" Illumi asked. "What did you need from us in the first place?" Hisoka asked, too. The troupe members seemed to realize that they weren't messing with ordinary people.
"We don't do this usually or casually at all, but due to the recent death of two of our members, and no one to take their spots, we're on the search for two new members for an upcoming mission, to work with us, at least temporarily. The reason we sent you an attack, was because we needed to know we weren't wasting our time with just anyone. It was to determine if you were past a certain skill level." The grey eyed man explained.

Illumi didn't know what Hisoka thought about all of this. But Illumi himself thought he didn't have anything much better to do, now that he was away from home.
Hisoka found himself intrigued by the members, wondering how they did in combat. "May we have a moment to ourselves, please?" Hisoka asked. The man nodded, so Hisoka turned around to Illumi, and the two distanced themselves from the troupe a bit. "What do you think of this proposal?" Hisoka asked. "Why not? I have nothing much to do at the moment." Illumi replied. Hisoka gave him a smile, signaling that he agreed.

"By the way, he's Illumi and I'm Hiso-" "I know. I'm Chrollo Lucilfer." "We would like to hear the terms of being part of the troupe, please." Illumi requested, and Chrollo delivered. "Those wishing to join the spiders will kill a current member, and take their place. Each member has a numbered tattoo of a 12-legged spider on their body wherever they choose to have it placed. There shall be no physical fighting among troupe members."

Illumi looked over to Hisoka, looking for some sign of his opinion. Hisoka gave him a shrug, while continuing to listen to Chrollo.

"In your case there's no point in killing troupe members to take their place, as we're currently not at our full capacity. I've decided that both of you will go one on one against the member of your choice, not including me; for I shall judge. The drawer of first blood wins the fight; though I cannot assure you that winning is the only factor in my decision. After the first blood, the fighting must end immediately, because this is only an exception to the rule of not fighting with other members, as these two could be our new members."

Illumi and Hisoka both agreed, and started with deciding on their opponents.

A/N: btw any troupe members that died are still alive in this fic, the members who died are not Paku or Uvo

Illumi looked around; all the troupe members looked different in size, clothing, in every way. He spotted a tall woman, scantily, yet formally dressed, with chin length blonde hair. It didn't really matter who he chose to fight, as he didn't know their abilities, strengths, or weaknesses. Judging based on looks and gender wouldn't do anything either, as they all must have been strong enough to maintain their places in the troupe, or secure their own spot in it.
The woman didn't seem to talk much, and was a bit mysterious in her nature. Illumi found it intriguing.
He decided on battling her.

Hisoka was rather unhappy with the question he was given; on who he wanted to fight. This was going to be a random decision for the most part. But to make it more amusing for himself, he decided on choosing the most exciting looking member, judging by clothing and style: a young woman, quite short, with pink hair and interesting clothing elements.
