....
The bathroom door slowly opened, and steam billowed out like a thick fog.
A girl with long black hair stepped out slowly. Water droplets still clung to her skin as she dried her hair with a towel. She wore only a bath towel wrapped around her body and stood before the wardrobe, searching for a suitable outfit for the day. Somewhere on the pink bed, her phone suddenly chimed with a "ting," catching her attention.
Pausing her search for clothes, she walked over to the bed and sat down, opening her phone. Her eyes squinted, and her eyebrows furrowed as she read the message:
Onew
Hey!
Are you really not going to reply to my messages?
I didn't do anything to make you angry. Meilinnnnn...
Seen
Notifications kept pouring in, but Meilin no longer hurried. She continued to leisurely search for clothes. Eventually, she found a simple hoodie and paired it with jean shorts, grabbing her phone as she dressed.
Team Carefree
Meilin
Hey Come to the X Café.
I have something to say.
@all
Noal
What's up?
Is it serious?
Harry
Why meet there?
Why not our usual spot for biking?
Meilin
Stop asking so many questions. Just come.
Owen
I'll be there.
Before leaving, Meilin paused briefly, looking at the suitcase in the corner. She quickly tossed the clothes she had laid out back into the closet.
She hopped on her familiar motorbike and sped off to the meeting point. From a distance, she could see the familiar silhouettes of her friends-two golden heads and one blue. In the bustling, crowded London, was there still a place for her?
She stopped her bike in front of her friends, quickly removed her helmet, and smiled, apologizing for being late. "Sorry! Traffic was crazy... hehe."
She apologized to ease the strange tension in the air.
"Seriously, you call us out and then show up late? What's the big deal that you couldn't tell us in a message?" The girl with blue hair dismissed her irritation, gently tugging Meilin's hand. Her tone was harsh, but the gesture was soft and kind, contradicting her words. Meilin grasped her hand and smiled. "I know, I know."
"You double-faced brat! When I'm late, you curse me out, but you're all gentle with Meilin when she's late?" The tall guy with long blonde hair raised his voice, clearly displeased but still following behind. It was confusing.
She glanced at the last friend. His sweet blue eyes seemed to hold a profound sadness that couldn't be shared with anyone. His thoughts were unreadable-whether he was indifferent or lost in deep thought, it was hard to tell. Harry didn't care anymore; who knew what had happened between Owen and Meilin, but he didn't want to delve into their personal issues.
The four friends quickly chose their orders and started chatting.
"Alright, spill it. Why did you call us out here?" Noah asked.
Meilin took out a bag and handed gifts to Noah and Harry. "These are for you guys."
Harry eagerly took his gift. "Wow, gifts! Nice one, Meilin!"
Meilin smiled gently, unsure how to break the news to her friends about what was coming. She looked at Owen, who was already looking at her. Sometimes she wondered if he ever liked her. She handed him a small gift, perhaps the last one she would give him.
"I'm leaving London soon." Meilin's words brought the atmosphere down.
The three friends stared at her with strange expressions. Noah spoke up, "Not funny, Meilin."
Meilin softly replied, "I'm serious. It's time for me to go back to my family."
For him, for his dreams, she had asked her family to let her study in England to be close to him and support him. But perhaps it was time to give up.
She thought it was a naive, childish infatuation, but she had been by his side for seven years-long, but not too long.
She had confessed her feelings repeatedly but was always rejected. Was it her fault? Was it because she wasn't her?
"I called you out today to say goodbye properly. We've been together for five years, and if I didn't say a proper goodbye, I'd never forgive myself." She said this while looking at Owen and smiling.
"But don't be sad. I'll come back someday. How about we party tonight?" she suggested, trying to lighten the mood.
Noah and Harry, feeling a bit sad at first, brightened up at the mention of a party. Owen, however, remained expressionless.
"I think I will leave you for a while."
