Think I'll miss you forever
Like the stars miss the sun in the morning sky
Later's better than never
Even if you're gone, I'm gonna drive (drive), drive.
Owen's Perspective:
Upon returning home, Owen opened the gift Meilin had given him that afternoon. Inside was a pair of racing gloves with his name engraved on them, along with a short letter written in shaky handwriting, stained with tears:
"Owen, thank you for everything you've done for me. The time spent with you, Noah and Harry is the most beautiful memory I have. I will always remember the Light Cavalry and you.
Meilin."
He felt like he was going crazy after learning that Meilin was going back to Korea. But who was he to stop her? He had tried texting her many times, only to receive silence in return. Calling her, she wouldn't pick up.
He was the one who had rejected her. He wished he could turn back time to before everything happened; he would certainly treat Meilin more gently, cherish her as much as he could so she wouldn't leave.
He wondered how she would cope in Korea. Even though her family was there, what if she got bullied or isolated at school because she was too kind and sweet? If nothing else, she wouldn't have fallen for him, caring for him so meticulously.
It was only now that he realized all the things she had done for him, but it was too late as she had already left. She had once stayed by his side all night when he was sick, taking care of him. Whenever he got injured from racing, it was always her who cared for him with such tenderness. There were times he was too insensitive, thinking that everything she did for him was voluntary and took it for granted without any gratitude.
Owen felt his heart ache, regretting not recognizing Meilin's feelings sooner. Now that she had left, he was left with only memories, sweet yet painful. He recalled the little but meaningful moments, like how Meilin's face lit up every time he won a race, or the times she patiently listened to him talk about everything under the sun.
He remembered the time she took care of him all night when he was sick, placing a cold compress on his forehead and cooking porridge for him. He remembered how gently she bandaged his wounds whenever he fell off his bike, never complaining, only worrying about him. He had been too careless to see how much love and care Meilin had given him.
Owen stood up and walked to his desk, opening a drawer. He took out a photo album that Meilin had given him on his last birthday. As he flipped through the pages, memories of them together came flooding back. Photos of them together, outings with the group, the races where Meilin was always there to cheer him on.
Now, Owen felt more empty and lonely than ever. He realized that Meilin had become an essential part of his life, and her departure left a gaping hole that couldn't be filled. He knew he had lost a precious friend, someone who had always been there for him.
Owen sat down, his eyes sad as he looked out the window. He knew he had to accept the reality that Meilin had left. But his heart couldn't stop hoping that one day, he would have the chance to see her again and tell her the things he had never had the chance to say.
But he couldn't wait any longer. Owen decided he would go to Korea to find Meilin. He knew this was his only chance to make amends and let her know how important she was to him. He began to make plans, looking for plane tickets and contacting friends in Korea to find out where Meilin was living.
Owen was determined, not letting any obstacles stop him. He would go find her, no matter how difficult it might be. He knew that true love wasn't just about saying "I love you," but also about actions and being willing to do anything to protect the one you love.
With that determination, Owen packed his bags and headed to Korea, carrying hope and a heart full of longing. He knew the road ahead wouldn't be easy, but he believed that if he had genuine love, he would find Meilin again.
