As soon as Owen appeared, people started whispering, wondering if he was a member of the Light Cavalry. Of course, wherever he went, he'd become the center of attention. When people turned to look at the girl walking beside Owen, the boys became even more excited.
"Damn! Is that the manager of the Light Cavalry? She's so gorgeous!"
"I think it's really her! I need to get her number."
Owen noticed the guys staring at his Meilin and shot them a glare, which made them hesitate, but it didn't stop them from admiring her.
Owen turned to Meilin and said, "Looks like you've got quite a lot of admirers, maybe even more than I do."
Meilin glanced at the crowd talking about her and smirked. "You're just realizing that now? You should know better than anyone how many people chase after me."
Owen froze for a moment, then teased, "Oh really? Who else besides me? Spill it!"
Meilin playfully hit Owen on the shoulder. "Focus on the race, will you?"
The people standing in front of Meilin were quite tall, so she couldn't see the race clearly. Owen noticed and said, "Hop on my shoulders, you'll get a better view."
"Go on," Owen knelt down, waiting for her to sit on his shoulders.
He gently lifted her up, and Meilin, feeling a little scared, grabbed onto Owen's hair for support. Sitting up high was exhilarating, and once she got used to it, she let go, waving her hands to cheer on Shelly.
"Hummingbirds, go go go!"
"Owen, what do you think of their race? Not bad, right?"
"Eh, I've seen better. I could do better."
"You're right! No one can race better than our Owen," Meilin said teasingly, bending down to pinch Owen's cheek. (Aww, how cute!)
The race ended with an amazing comeback by the Hummingbirds. Owen spotted something in the crowd and told Meilin to get down. "I need to go take care of something," he said before diving into the crowd.
"What the heck? We're having fun, and you just leave me like that? You'll pay for this later!" Meilin muttered as she hurried off to find Shelly.
"Shelly, you were amazing out there! You really are my queen!" Meilin exclaimed, throwing her arms around her.
"Of course, who do you think I am?" Shelly hugged her back.
After chatting with Shelly for a bit, Meilin realized Owen still hadn't returned. Curious about what he was up to, she started looking for him, wondering how he was managing without speaking any Korean. As she searched, someone grabbed her hand. It was Jackson—someone she never wanted to see again.
