Today was the big day. There was a wedding at the end of the day and lots of preparing to be done. Rick was probably recovering from the hangover he got from the bachelor part last night. Jo's probably trying to fit into her wedding dress. With the exclusion of Rick and Jo, we were all at the venue making sure everything would be ready for tonight.

"Okay. Stefan you're on the chairs. Matt and Tyler get the decorations. Bonnie, check on the bride's condition. Damon and Elena make sure that the rental car and hotel for the honeymoon and perfect! And Aurora..."

"....and I'll get the cake. On it, boss." I winked at Caroline who was stressing over last minute wedding details.

"Perfect. I'm going to check on a few things." she made marks on her clipboard.

Everyone had been scattering about preparing for the wedding. Rick and Jo would get married and later give birth to two beautiful little babies. It had to be perfect. Caroline was there to make sure of it. They all smiled, cheek to cheek. Finally they felt like they could breathe. There was nothing to worry about anymore. Why was that? Was it a coincidence? Kai left and suddenly we all lived an a picture perfect world where witches and vampires got along. A world where finally Damon was not the one to blame. Although sooner or later, I expected to have him come knocking down my door for the cure.

"Hey." Elena walked over.

"Hey," I forced a smile.

Elena looked at me with eyes full of pity. The boy I love was no where to be found. But his sister was happily engaged and with a family on the way. She could feel my thoughts just by looking at me. She knew I wanted to leave and find him although no one wanted him here. They didn't trust him to be there. And I just couldn't believe at how selfish I was being. I'm happy. I am happy. Rick and Jo and finally getting married. They will finally be able to live the life none of us had. I should be happy, shouldn't I? But somehow, this whole thing left a bitter taste in my mouth.

"...What if Kai comes back? You're thinking it too, aren't you?" I broke the silence.

"I...Yeah. I am." she couldn't bring herself to lie.

"He changed, Elena. No one even gave him a chance to prove that."

"Aurora, he left you. He almost killed you and spent the night with you and the next morning he was gone! How much do you think he's changed??"

"..."

"I see your bonding and everything but if blondie finds out we haven't done anything for the preparations she'll kill-- Oh. Looks like I'm interrupting something?"

Damon walked in arrogantly, looking at the list of things Caroline wrote up for him to take care of for the wedding.

"No, you're not Damon. I was just leaving." I looked up at him.

"Aurora. Wait, I'm sorry that's not what I meant."

"That's exactly what you meant, Elena, and everyone else is thinking it."

"Magical fingers there looks really upset," Damon teased and I walked out. She sighed and shook her head, "Let's go Damon."

I started walking towards the entrance of the building where everyone would later get dressed for the wedding. I felt sorry too. It wasn't her fault. She was right. He'd begged for forgiveness and he walked out of my life so easily as thought it all meant nothing.

I remembered the feeling of the hot blood oozing out of my stomach. It was so hot but my body was cold as I lost consciousness. Even that heat was nothing compared to the way he'd made love to me that same night. I touched my lips, the same ones he kissed. I wanted to feel the warmth of his mouth over mine. The slight pain of his teeth nibbling on my lips and the thrust of his love between my thighs. I couldn't think about anything or anyone else. I cupped my mouth holding back the tears that were threatening to spill.

My hand was reaching towards the door. I mindlessly walked in and headed towards the kitchen, the cakes were waiting in the freezer. I suppressed my thoughts; finally managing to snap out of my daze and grab the cakes of the the freezer and setting them down on the huge, granite counter tops.

"Yum! Cupcakes!"

I was counting how many cupcakes when I heard Kai's voice behind me. I swallowed hard, I could feel my eyes stinging from the water that began to rise from them. I around turned slowly.

"Aurora? Are you okay? You look like you saw a ghost or something."

It was Jeremy. Kai was never there. Kai would never be there because he left almost a year ago. There was no text message, no calls, no last goodbye. Nothing. He disappeared as though he was never there. Even when Bonnie finally returned his name was never brought up for saving her.

"Yeah. Uh. Sorry I thought I heard someone else. It must be the wedding stress--you know no sleep and all." I shook it off.

"Yeah. Well, lucky for you I finished the wedding favors so it looks like I can give you a hand with the cakes."

"Good. We need to get that cake and cupcakes in the center table in five."

The sun had already fallen. Jeremy and I finished everything else that needed to be done indoors. All we needed to do was to get dressed.

"Hey, I'm going for a shower, if anyone asks for me."

"Sure. Caroline called and said she's on her way"

"is Elena coming too?" I bit my lip.

"I don't know, why? Did something happen between you two?"

"Not really. Anyway, it's getting kinda late so I'm gonna go get ready before Caroline kills me." I forced a laugh, heading upstairs.

I jogged upstairs, making my way to the room at the end of the empty hallway. Everyone would be here in less than an hour to get ready for the ceremony. I sighed walking into a beautiful off-the-shoulder gown lying on the bed and the jewelry sitting on the dresser. The dress was a maroon color, the color of deep red wine. I held it up to my body, looking at my reflection through the mirror by the bathroom door. I closed my eyes, breathing in air. I couldn't believe how beautiful it was.

THUD

A loud bang downstairs attracted my attention. It sounded as though something had fallen. Shit. If that's the cake, we're all dead. My eyes peeled open as I felt a cold breath by my ear. It wasn't the cake.

"Jeremy?" I called out as my eyes were covered by some sort of cloth

"This isn't funny, Jer." I asserted.

"Make sure you keep her alive, boys. For now at least." a husky voice commands from behind me.
