Avery's POV
I like Theo. I can admit that. But in admitting that I have to own the fact that I developed feelings for him while dating Jayden. And if I start dating him right after Jayden and I broke up, will people assume what they always thought? That I cheated on Jayden with Theo? Will Jayden think that? I don't want to hurt him more than I already have... He already watched me use Theo in place of him for so many things, how could I replace him as my boyfriend completely?
"Are we really doing this?" I ask, staring up at him for reassurance. And the smile that spreads across his face tells me I can't make him wait for me any longer.
"I've been waiting 3 years to." He answers earnestly and I can't help but kiss him. For all that I've put him through today, he still wants to be with me. He's always there for me. Since that night at my house, where he protected me from every imaginary evil I scared myself over, he has been there for me. I couldn't let Jayden be there for me, so I have to let Teddy.
"How about we go enjoy this party a little more. It would be a waste to cash in the event of the year just to spend the entirety in the Boat House." I say in an attempt to evade any serious conversations right now.
"Hopefully Jackie's recovered from earlier." He jokes reminding me about her entrance that halted our make out session. She was looking for Dylan wasn't she?
"Did you catch what she said when she came in?" I ask, locking up the boat house once more.
"Something about May and Dylan? I'm not sure honestly, I was a bit distracted." He retorts, grabbing my waist from behind.
"Why are you pulling away from me?" Jayden's voice sounds in my brain once more like an alarm. I need a drink.
"May and Dylan? She isn't even here." I say confused, and start walking back to the house when it hits me.
"She apologized." I say aloud, stopped in my tracks. Theo looks back at me, realizing I wasn't beside him anymore.
"Did she?" He asks, carelessly.
"She was looking for Dylan to apologize to him. For caring when May called him." I explain to him, her words finding their way to the front of my mind. Oh my god she got jealous of May.
"Oh my god she likes Dylan!" I screech at Theo and he lets out a sigh.
"Didn't we do this already Avery?" He asks.
"But I'm not being delusional this time! Why else would she have cared if May called him?" I ask him, and when he stays quiet I know I'm right.
"Even if you're right, I'm sure nothing happened between them yet. She's probably just as confused by her feelings for him as you are." He answers eventually. As uncomfortable as the idea of her having feelings for my brother is, Teddy's right. She wouldn't jump into anything with him without talking to me first so I just need to talk to her.
Dylan's POV
"What the hell is going on with you Dylan?" She asks, fear and anger wavering her voice.
"May does coke." I say, and then start pacing as more and more people appear outside.
"Yeah and so do you apparently." She scoffs. I grab her hand guide to the side of the house, trying to get away from all the people. Explaining this to anyone would be hard, explaining while lines of coke are in my bloodstream is even harder.
"It's why we're broken up. I found her stash in her jacket that morning after she jumped you in the kitchen." I explain.
"Well that night is definitely making more sense now." She retorts, arms crossed.
