13. Experiencing Ecstasy

My phone rings in the middle of the night, having Kells pop up on my screen as he's FaceTiming me.

I answer even though I shouldn't have, sitting up in bed.

"I'm fucking dumb. I shouldn't have said those things to you. I'm sorry."

Looking down, I see his eyes are bloodshot from either drinking or smoking.

"Are you saying that because it's true? Or are you saying that because you're intoxicated?"

Teary eyed, he shook his head, "I'm fucked up Maya. I know that. But I don't want to fuck this up."

I now start to get emotional, seeing how much he's going through it.

"Maybe we just need to not talk for a while...get your head right," I say, needing the time to really figure out what I wanted genuinely out of this.

He wipes his eyes, nodding, "Yeah...yeah maybe that would be better but I don't know If I can do it."

"Do what?" I say looking to him.

He lays back in his bed, "Not talk to you. Even though it's the smart thing to do."

I sighed, "Col..." calling him his real name for the first time, "We should try. I don't want to be the reason you get worse before you get better. You were doing fine without me. Now, you're not. I'll take this time to focus on me...maybe do the same."

All of a sudden Vin calls me on the other line, "I got to take this call. I hope it gets better for you, I really do," Hanging up, I answer to hear him and a whole bunch of people partying.

"Maya!!! Come dance with me!" Laughing in an angelic tone, which I didn't think was possible but was, he started yelling the lyrics of Summertime Sadness by Lana Del Ray but EDM style (song above ), "Where are you?" I say putting on jeans with Kells t-shirt I left with when I stood the night. Hanging up he pings the address to my phone, showing me he was at some EDM club here in Morsin City.

Getting a ride by Beck, we sat in silence since she was the only one I could call since no driver was coming out at 3 o'clock in the morning just to drive me to a club and back.

"Thanks," I say low while placing my head on the car window.

She keeps driving then says, "I didn't think we would even speak at all after the launch party...just glad you called."

I shrugged, "I need to save Vin before he gets in deeper waters with his dad, it's the least I can do."

Beck nods, "What are friends for right?" I smiled low, "Yeah, right."

Vin's Pov

Moving to the music with glow sticks around my neck and wrists, I dance more hearing Lana.

"This is my song! Hey! You! This is my song!" I say excitedly already high off ecstasy.

Sweat drips from my forehead while I sing along, I then get the urge to call Maya.

When I do I invited her to party with me as I was alone,I was always alone.

Zae would just play captain save a bro but after the last few fights he gave up.

So, I've been going out on my own enjoying what life has to offer.

Is that so bad?

When I get like this, I feel free, free as a bird flying up in the clouds with endless space to just drift.

That's how I felt while Lana was playing in the background and the beat hit super loud.

Still dancing on my own, I see Beck and Maya moving through the crowd to get to me.

"Vin! Vin come on!" Maya says pulling me towards her.

Having extra ecstasy, I grabbed her face, opened her mouth and made her take one, "Be free Maya!" Beck tried to help but I just did the same with her, "Now we're all free!" Smiling and dancing to the music, it takes a minute, but both girls start to dance to the music too then on each other sensually.

I turn then see Zae pissed, rushing through the crowd.

"Tell me you just didn't force feed them pills," He yells over the music to me.

Zipping my lips, he looks at Maya shaking his head seeing how high she was getting.

"If Kells gets word of this? We're both done for," He yells again for me to hear.

People start video recording Maya and Beck as they keep dancing out in the open having fun.

"They're happy! Be happy Zae!"

Zae drags me off the table I got on then grabs the girls having to call for backup to drive Beck's car to take back to his place as he wasn't going to let them go home high as they were.

"This shit gotta stop," Zae says to me while the girls are getting in the backseat.

I shrugged, "I'm doing me, why can't you just accept that?"

Zae scoffs, "V, you're doing this to cope with the fact you lost your mums. Your father is an alcoholic that buries himself in work and the only person you really care about more than friends, moved away to be with some hipster guy that sells cans out of a truck for fun."

Clenching my jaw, I cut my eyes at him, "I told you never to bring up Isabelle or my mom."

Zae just shoves me into the passenger seat taking me to his house.

In some guest room with Beck, we lay down touching each other's hair.

"This world is so strange," Beck says with her ocean eyes mesmerized on my lips.

Feeling her hair more, I just see small stars dancing around.

"I wonder if Letty felt this way," I say, being tripped up on the pill Vin gave us, just letting things out that I wouldn't normally talk about.

Beck lays down more next to me looking at the ceiling fan.

"I think I'm falling for you but you're falling for someone else," She admits then starts dozing off while I looked at her from the side still feeling the drug lingering in my system, now getting sleepy too.
