My people are "heaven incarnate". That's what the world says about us, anyway. I wouldn't say that, though. We were born into this world like any other race, so we must have been given that nickname because of our lifespans and abilities we're born with. Once we've reached the ages of either 26 or 27, we stop aging, making us eternally youthful. That doesn't mean we are immortal, though. In fact, there are three ways an angel can die, at least to my knowledge. The first way is if you meet your soulmate. You could give up your immortal life for a mortal one to stay with your love. The second way is heartbreak. Say if you're soulmate were to die, the pain would be so unbearable, you'd slowly wither away until there was nothing left of you. And finally, the third way would be if you were to die in battle or by a weapon of some sort. Like every other person in the world, we are no more mortal than they are when we fight. That's just how it is. That got depressing real fast, so let's try and move on to another subject.
We're pretty good with most weapons, but we're best with swords and a bow and arrow. Our eyes and ears are much stronger than a normal human, making us see miles ahead and hear just as far. Pretty cool, right? Anyway, let me talk more about my home. Lorien is such a beautiful island, with wintery weather almost all year-round. And no, it's not just because we live in the North Blue. It's also because angels happen to thrive in cold weather, so we thank our gods for making a perfect home for us. The family that's been ruling over Lorien for 100 years now is my family, the Morgensterns. My great-grandfather, Galilean, and my grandfather, Bode, did not want any relations with outsiders, so our country remained unaffiliated with the World Government for several decades. That changed though, when my father, Stefan, became the emperor and reached out to the World Government, wanting peace, after constantly being at war with one another, resulting in the deaths of my grandfather and great-grandfather. The government knew of our great skill in combat, as well as our extended lifespan, so thinking we would be good to have under their control, they agreed to my father's proclamation and gave him permission to attend the World Summit.
What they were really interested in though, was our army. The Black Guards have been our protectors for as long as we've been in the world. They are highly skilled and strong angels who have amazing speed and agility, as well as the gifts we are all given from birth. That makes them incredibly powerful, as well as the strongest angels on the island, right after the emperor. A lot of them are serious people, though, so they're not super fun to be around or have around. But the government doesn't care about their personalities, and they just want them to join their forces. They did not bring it up to my father for the first few years we'd been allied, but after a decade, they would not wait anymore and discussed it with him the very next time they met with him. As expected, my father respectfully declined the offer, not wanting to ever trade his people in anything like that. The higher ups were not happy with his refusal, but did not show their anger and instead acted as if they accepted my father's decline. I think my father knew though, that they wouldn't be happy, because when he got home, he heightened security and always made sure he would be kept informed of anyone trying to come to our land, whether they were allies or not.
And this is what leads to the events of today.
"Come on, Helios! Show 'em who's boss! Kick his ass!" I glanced over to Lucius, who would not be quiet the entire time Helios was training. It is very funny though to see him get all worked up like this. "Lucius! Sit down! You're blocking my view!" "Shut up, Aurora! If you wanna see so bad, why don't ya stand up?" "Alright, I will."
She turned to face me and said sweetly, "You stay here with Regulus, okay Y/n?" I smiled at her and nodded. She went and stood next to Lucius, before she smacked him with her wing, sending him into the middle of Helios' training. Oh, he went and did it now. The guard training Helios turned to Lucius and scolded him for jumping in. "Wait! She pushed me!" He turned and pointed to where Aurora had been standing, only to see she was not there. Regulus and I couldn't stop giggling at the fact that Aurora had managed to push Lucius and get away with it too! Our older sister was sitting next to us and waving at the guard as if she'd been there the entire time.
