Wow! Look at me posting 2 new chapters in the span of a week! I gotta give myself a high five cause that is way better than I planned it out to be! But dude, this was my longest chapter yet by far, so that took a lot out of me. On another note, I got this awesome new Whole Cake poster at a sale my university was having, so of course I went and bought 3 more posters because why not! I'd like for the next chapter to be out soon too, so I'll get my reading out of the way so I can get to work asap!💙🤍
I'd always thought that races other than human were nicer, and I was right! I'd offered to help prepare the food a few different times and the kind giant had politely turned me down every time. Maybe it's the bias talking, but non-human races for the win!
Sitting on a rock next to Broggy, I turned around to check on Nami and Usopp, who were still laying on the bed of grass I'd put them on. I could hear them whispering amongst themselves about how I was a "lost cause" and that they needed to get away before the giant "eats us like he will Y/n".
Shrugging, I turned back to Broggy, who had also turned to face my idiotic crewmates, and told him, "Don't worry about them, Broggy, sir. They're just very shy and do this with every new person they meet! They did it with me, so it's not a "you" thing!" Broggy looked down at me and smiled hugely, accepting my excuse, before turning back to continue working on the dino meat.
Broggy had begun singing a little jaunty, making me giggle. To think he's a part of the world's strongest race, it's crazy. Thinking I wouldn't notice, Nami and Usopp began sneaking away, and then made a run for it, not looking back once.
Damn! They really are gonna leave me. I mean, I'm not gonna be eaten, but still. That's harsh, guys. What did I do to deserve being left behind?
"That's a mighty sword you're carrying with you, little angel. That would be the Star Sword, Ether, am I right?"
Looking down at my sword, I smiled and looked back up at him. "Thank you, and yes, you are correct. Ether was given to me by my guardian several years ago. It's a blade any angel would dream of wielding, and I am blessed to be its next holder." He let out a laugh after I said that, making my smile widen.
"Your people are much like mine when it comes to these things. It is with great honor that we carry these weapons. Makes us proud warriors." Not being able to resist, I blurted out, "How did you know this was the sword, Ether, Broggy?"
He looked back down at me, and replied fairly quickly, surprising me, "Believe it or not, the friend I spoke of earlier had wielded that same blade. I don't think it's the same person you speak of, though, because he never would've taken in a child, let alone have one." He bellowed again loudly, making the rock I was sitting on shake.
I was about to continue asking more, but I could hear Nami and Usopp fighting for their lives in the forest, making me roll my eyes slightly. Standing up from my spot, I turned my body in his direction and bowed before saying, "My friends, they ran away because of their chronic shyness, and now they need saving. Please, allow me to retrieve them for you, so that we can have a nice meal as a group. Apologies for their bad behavior, sir."
Straightening up, I jumped off the rock and brushed myself off, but heard Broggy say from beside me, "Oh, I'd noticed that as well. The meat is done cooking, so we can both go to get them! And there's no need to apologize, little lady." Grinning up at him, I nodded my head, and we went to go get my two shameless friends.
"Humans are just so weird, aren't they, Broggy?"
"Oh yes. They're incredibly odd folks."
We did not have to walk far to find them. Without even meaning to, he came up behind them without warning and called to them, scaring them more.
