In Cody's room, Casie was visibly tense, staring up and down outside the window with her arms crossed tightly. Nakaupo ito sa upuan malapit sa binata habang ang kaliwang paa ay naka bendaje at nakataas sa isang unan.
" I really can't believe my brother can do that." Bulong nito sa sarili. Kahit ang kanyang ina ay hindi niya mahagilap. Pakiramdam niya tuloy ay inabandona siya nito.
"Oh come on, it's not that bad." Cody leaned against the headboard wearing a mischievous grin. "You get to enjoy my delightful company twenty-four-seven."
"Tanong mo sa jeans mong hindi mo ma-zipper." She rolled her eyes and once again let out a pout. She feels frustrated.
"Hoy! Hindi ko kasalanan na mahirap maisara yung pantalon ko. Aleast hindi ako green-minded kagaya mo."
"Green-minded? Mas green pa nga yung brief mo kaysa sa utak ko!"
"Atleast may bahay pa ako!"
Their playful argument was stopped when Mrs. Mondraleco suddenly walked in looking amused.
"I hope I'm not interrupting something here."
"Nako, hindi po. We're just playing. And I'm actually just...adjusting in here."
Nagpakawala ang dalaga ng isang pilit na ngiti. She doesn't want her to feel like she doesn't like to live with them. Of course, she just wants her own space.
"Yeah, adjusting to being homeless." A loud laugh came from the man next to her.
Muling nagpigil ng inis ang dalaga dahil sa sinabi ng lalaking Mondraleco. Mabuti nalang at napaka mabait ng ina nito.
"Oh dear, I'm so sorry about what happened to your house. You're welcome here as long as you need."
Her nod was accompanied by a warm smile, "Maraming salamat po."
The old woman smiled back warmly at them both before disappearing into the room, leaving Cody and Casie momentarily speechless.
