Someone was here. Right there in the middle of the street in Mystic Falls, Virginia. People were there. A woman and a man, the woman was short with dark skin and short black, straight hair styled in a bob, the man was tall, pale, with dark features, he reeked of magic, but not in a way witches do, he was something else, they both were, the girl had to be a witch, Madelene could feel her energy stored away deep inside of her, screaming to be set free.

They walked down the street, visibly arguing, the girl had her arms crossed over her breast and had an annoyed expression on her face while the man followed a few feet behind her with a victorious smirk.

In some way, they reminded Madelene of Kai and her.

She watched them from a distance, her body screamed, ached to run towards them and scream please help me leave, every inch of her body was burning, delirious from the exhaustion of a three-day almost non-stop drive.

But she felt scared, she couldn't trust them even if she wanted to, she felt like she could, the witch at least.

The truth soon downed on her, reminding her she could not leave. Every fiber of her being wanted to leave, every breathing second it screamed for help, but she was trapped, she couldn't possibly let Malachai out of his prison and she couldn't leave without him. She couldn't  risk the pair helping Kai leave either.

So she had to kill them.

They walked right past the building she was hiding behind. She felt the pulling urge to jump out from behind the brick wall and give the snarky vampire a brain aneurysm before shooting the witch dead and chopping the guy's head off before he could recover. It would not bring her joy to hurt the innocent, but nothing really brought her happiness anymore. At least killing made her feel something.

Just when she tried, a pair of strong arms eloped her and pulled her back into the dark, she almost screamed, but a hand covered her mouth, she was in the air for a moment before her back slammed against a cold brick wall,  her teeth rang at the impact and her eyes closed in pain.

"Well hello" Kai whispered. She opened her eyes to see his smiling face "It's good to see you" he spoke casually as his grip loosened.

Madelene rolled her eyes and pushed her hands forward creating space between the two making Kai lazyly move a few inches away. Her body stiffened up in nerves.

"What the fuck?" she spit out "Who are those people?"

Kai smirked, looking around nonchalantly  "They are our saviors, Maddie Bear '' he confirmed her worst nightmare with a smile on his face.

"What do you mean?" her eyebrow raised, forehead scrunching

"I mean, she is a witch, and he is a vampire" he explained the pair "I had a few days heads-up from you to get to know the-"

"You mean stalking?"

"Same thing" he simply shrugged.

"No, it's not" she cut in.

Kai rolled his eyes "Either way, she is a witch, she will get us out" he explained like Maddie was a five-year-old, in a slow tone putting an accent at the end of every word.

Madelene looked at him a bit funny, she wondered what type of information was he in possession of, to think a twenty-something-looking witch could help them bring down the most powerful spell to exit and break them free. She chuckled and then it turned into a laugh.

"What makes you think this little girl is capable of that? She's barely a witch"

Kai's eyes darkened, like he knew something she didn't and it made her scared. She felt wet sweat drops forming on the small of her back.
