There she was, in front of the house it all happened in. It all came down to the beginning. The Parker residence. Covered in sweat and dirt, she could feel her own body odor meaning it really was as bad as it gets.

She knew he was inside, waiting on her, ready to kill. If she was lucky enough, magic ran its course through his system and it was gone, it gave her an advantage she never had before against Kai.

She took a last glance at her gun and placed it in the back pocket of her pants.

"Invisique"

Game time.

She rushed to the front porch and looked through the small window in the middle of the door. Kai was there. He was walking around the kitchen and whistling while putting stuff in a big pot. Of course, he was cooking, was he expecting her?

She slowly walked backward and off the porch towards the back of the house, there was a pool with a floating inflatable pink flamingo floating on the surface and Madelene imagined little Lucas and Olivia playing and splashing around, she imagined Charlotte sunbathing by the edge of the pool and Josette watching the babies closely, dipping her feet into the water ever so slightly, an immense pinch of guilt came down on her, they were all dead or hurt badly. There was also a big car parked not much further, she knew that was where Joey Parker died, and she turned her gaze away. She walked toward the small backdoor and grabbed the handle. It was open.

The door moved slowly and creaked as it did. Madelene's face scrunched in expression of cringe as she walked through them hoping Kai didn't hear anything.

She walked slowly and placed all the steps with premeditation. Quiet as a mouse, except this time she was hunting the cat.

Suddenly a body appeared right as she turned the corner. Madelene's body jolted towards the wall as she pressed her back firmly against it. Kai made his way into the room, he stood with his back turned looking at the door, he closed it and then he quickly turned, making Madelene gasp, his eyes were looking right through her, it was almost as if he could see right through the spell. He raised his eyebrow and walked right past her.

Madelene released the breath she was holding in and moved deeper into the house. She moved to the living room which was styled in a very minimalistic manner,  just as it was left. There was blood on the walls and broken picture frames on the floor, strings hanging from the upper railings.

Just as she was about to go up the stairs, she felt a warm, thick liquid leaking from her nose. Fuck.

She hadn't practiced magic in a while, this spell might not hold up for much longer.

"You know, I was waiting for you" she suddenly heard behind her. "Dinner is almost ready"

Her eyes rolled as she slowly turned around putting her hands up in surrender. His lips formed a thin line in an annoyed smile "Well, you got me"

Kai smiled at her sweetly, his head moving to the side as he watched her. "What are you doing here?"

Madelene scrunched her forehead confused "What else am I supposed to do? Let you run around with my magic like a lunatic?"

He studied her, and the silence on his side made her uncomfortable.

"You wouldn't purposely come right into the lion's den if you weren't worried...worried about me finding a way out" his smile grew as he spoke.

Madelene started to sweat, she had to act now. Within a second she reached for her back pocket, but Kai was already there, pressing her against the wall, his forearm on her neck. He watched her with a glimmer of shock as he looked down and saw a gun pressed to his abdomen.
