Minutes blended into hours, blending into days. Madelene was not sure how much time had passed since Kai trapped her, but he hadn't been back since. Her stomach was swirling with hunger, her eyes started to slowly adjust to the darkness revealing the nasty molded, wet basement walls. The only sound she could hear was water drops falling into a metal bucket in the corner as they merged into a continuous, numbing rhythm that drove her mad. She was humming softly, afraid to lose her mind. The melody was familiar, but she couldn't register where it was from. She'd like to think it's one of the songs her dad wrote when they were still a family, but at this point, her brain was rotten, molded.

Madelene shifted slightly, her body aching from the cold, the uncomfortable chair, and the restraints digging into her skin creating bloody wounds around her wrists. She whined loudly, the pain started to become unbearable. Her body positioned the same way for god knows how long was slowly giving up, her spine was burning from the inside every time she even so slightly shifted her weight.

"Kai!" She screamed as loud as he could "KAI!" it was inhumane, and humiliating but also the last resort.

Anger filled her body after minutes of continued yelling bringing nothing but pain to her vocal cords. She started softly sobbing, swinging back and forth with the entire strength she had left. The desperation to escape was undeniable, there was no one coming to save her, she was on her own, her only savior. Even death was no longer an escape.

Finally, the chair fell back, and Madelene's head hit the moldy concrete as the fall made a bang loud enough to make her ears ring. And then she heard him, as loud screeching of wood filled the air. The heavy boots made an impact with the stairs before the door swung open hitting the wall behind them.

Kai strolled casually into the room and turned the light on, Madelene squirted her eyes at the sudden brightness. He looked around and his eyes landed on her miserable figure on the floor. His eyes rolled into the back of his head as he approached, chewing gum loudly.

Without a word, he grabbed onto her arms and brought the chair back into the regular position.

"Get me out of here!" she screamed, there was something primal in that need for survival, that scream was so raw that it made the hair on the back of his neck stand up.

There was a long silence between the two, Madelene's eyes were filled with rage, and she looked ready to kill. Opposite to her, the man's eyes were as bright as a stormy ocean, a hint of amusement behind the facade of concern.

Kai smirked his expression was cold. "Why should I let you go, Madelene?" he asked, his voice dripping with mockery. "I have to be honest, I thought you would use your magic by now to get free, I didn't expect you to just suffer through this like a good girl, just sitting on this chair waiting for what's ne-"

"You piece of s-"

"Huhu" he came up to her and covered her mouth with the palm on his hand "Now that's not so nice"

Madelene looked him dead in the eyes before biting down on the flesh of his hand as hard as she could. She thought of taking a piece of flesh with her to scar but decided against it.

Kai yelped in pain, jerking his hand back instinctively. "Motherfucker" he spat, looking at the deep indentations her teeth had left. Blood trickled from the wound, and his face twisted with anger. "You are turning insane in here" he shook his head and laughed "Sexy"

His laughter was grating, a cruel mockery of the situation. Madelene glared at him, the rage in her eyes undiminished. She could feel the metallic taste of his blood still lingering in her mouth, and it fueled her defiance. This was an unredeemable mistake he just made in her books, it's gonna be hard to come back from this.
