Taehyung's pov

Every word Mrs. Kang uttered cut through me, leaving a deep, stinging ache. Her own father attempted to murder her; I can scarcely fathom the horror she endured. My love may be delicate, but beneath her cloak of despair, there lies a fierce lioness. I vowed to unleash that ferocity, to reveal her true courage to the world, especially to those who tried to break her and doubted her worth.

My thoughts were shattered by a piercing sob echoing through the mansion. Her mother fell silent. "Heaven." I whispered, my voice a deep, urgent murmur. I sprang from the couch, taking long, determined strides toward our room. Heavy footsteps thundered behind me. The sobs grew louder with every heartbeat, and regret surged through me for leaving her alone.

She was trapped in another nightmare.

Before I could open the door, Jimin caught up with me, gripping my right shoulder and stopping me in my tracks. I spun around, my eyes burning with urgency, compelling him to speak swiftly. "Alert me immediately if there's an emergency or anything you require." Jimin insisted, his eyes brimming with concern for Heaven, clearly intent on respecting our privacy. "I will inform you, jimin." I responded hastily, pivoting and pushing open the door to the room.

The scene before me stabbed at my heart. The ache, once a mere sting, now felt like a gunshot wound, rendering me powerless. I stood there, paralyzed. But in the next moment, I found myself kneeling before her fragile, trembling form. She had curled into herself, knees hugged tight, hiding her face completely. Her sobs cut through me like knives, threatening to consume me whole. Taking a seat beside her, I spoke softly yet audibly, "Heaven, my love." I gently caressed her head, but her tears and trembling persisted unabated. Amidst her uncontrollable sobs, she kept whispering apologies to someone.

Her apologies filled me with rage. She had no need to apologize for sins she never committed but was forced to endure. I whispered words of comfort, but they offered little solace. Her sobs intensified with each passing moment, blurring my vision with tears. I couldn't bear to witness her pain. Instinctively, I gathered her into my arms, cradling her against my chest. Her legs hung limp on one side as I held her tightly, determined to protect her from her demons.

"Heaven, why are you crying, my love? It's only me and you here." I pleaded earnestly, my fingers tenderly stroking her hair. Her sobs echoed forcefully against my chest, her grip on my shirt tight as she pressed her head against me. "You're safe with me, love. You're home." I whispered firmly. Gradually, her cries subsided. Though her breathing remained heavy, it gradually steadied. I kissed her forehead tenderly, a token of my love.

"Look at me, love." And Her body reacted instinctively. She lifted her face from my chest, refusing to meet my gaze. Firmly, I placed two fingers under her chin and gently lifted her face to meet mine. Finally, our eyes locked. Despite the tears still lingering, she struggled to hold them back, refusing to succumb to another wave of despair.

"Are you fine?" I asked her earnestly, my eyes brimming with love and concern. At my words, the tears she had restrained burst forth, streaming down her cheeks. Without hesitation, she nodded in affirmation.

I lifted the glass of water from the table, its contents already filled, and removed the cover. Placing it near her lips, she drank from my hand.

"Do you want to share it?" I asked, even though I knew the answer. It shattered my heart to see her in such torment. She didn't reply, instead gazing into my eyes as if searching for something. A sigh escaped her, and in the next moment, a shiver coursed through my entire body as her lips brushed against my skin. It was astonishing how this woman, my little warrior, wielded such power over me. A few years ago, I never imagined I'd be in a situation where every cell in my body will crave her touch.
