Monday, April 8th, 2019.

The morning sun cast a soft glow over the Conway household as Linda moved gracefully through her morning routine. Today was her day to manage the bustling preparations: from cracking eggs into a bowl, toasting bread just so, and brewing coffee that filled the kitchen with its rich aroma. Charlie, still in his pajamas, entered the kitchen with a sleepy smile and reached for a cup of freshly brewed coffee.

"Morning, hon," Charlie murmured, savoring the warmth of the coffee in his hands. "Anything I can do to help?"

Linda glanced over her shoulder, a smile tugging at her lips. "I think I've got it covered. But could you do me a favor and go wake up Katie? I want to make sure she's not late for school."

Charlie nodded, setting down his coffee with a soft clink. "Sure thing. I'll go get her up."

Leaving Linda to the symphony of breakfast preparations, Charlie made his way upstairs to Katie's room. He rapped gently on the door, calling out in a voice that was both gentle and firm.

"Katie, sweetheart, time to rise and shine," he announced cheerfully.

Inside the room, there was a muffled groan followed by the rustling of blankets. Katie's voice, slightly hoarse from sleep, floated through the door. "Dad, do I really have to go to school today?"

Charlie chuckled softly, leaning against the doorframe. "Yes, honey, you do. Mom's making pancakes downstairs."

There was a pause before Katie's voice perked up with sudden enthusiasm. "Pancakes? Okay, I'm up!"

Charlie smiled to himself as he descended the stairs, hearing Katie's footsteps patter behind him moments later. Down in the kitchen, Linda had already set the table with plates and utensils, the pancakes now stacked high on a platter, accompanied by crispy bacon and a bowl of fresh fruit.

Katie, now fully awake and animated, chatted excitedly about her plans for the day as she sat down at the table. Charlie poured her a glass of orange juice while Linda dished out generous portions of pancakes. The family meal was filled with light-hearted banter and laughter, a comforting ritual that grounded them before the day's activities began in earnest.

After breakfast, Linda packed Katie's lunch and handed it to her with a smile. "Alright, sweetheart, time to head to school. Have a great day, okay?"

Katie nodded eagerly, swinging her backpack onto her shoulders. "Thanks, Mom! Love you!"

Linda bent down to give Katie a hug, whispering, "Love you too, sweetie. See you after school."

With a quick wave to Charlie, Katie headed out the door, her excitement palpable as she embarked on another day of learning and adventures.

Once Katie was out the door Linda sank into Charlie's lap, their lips meeting in a soft kiss. "We have so much to do today," she murmured against his mouth.
