🍂 — old yearbooks and bad kissers

"𝐈 𝐃𝐎𝐍'𝐓 𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐃 how Janie Fertman got onto the cheer team. Other than her good looks she's total trash. Like, yeah you can shake your ass for the guys on the football team, but you can't do a cartwheel. What's up with that?"

Billie had been voicing her frustrations about the cheerleading squad for several minutes, with Ivy and Lane nodding in agreement. They never had much affection for the popular girls at their school, most of whom were on the cheerleading team. Billie, however, was compelled to join the team when the dance squad disbanded to meet her athletic requirements.

She quickly ascended the ranks to become co-captain. Unfortunately for her, her co-captain was Janie Fertman, and the animosity between them was mutual. Ivy noticed that Billie's complaints about her practices had become a regular occurrence.

As the girls walked to school, with Lane joining them upon arrival, Billie continued her tirade. Ivy and Lane frequently exchanged glances as Billie vented her frustrations.

"And the most infuriating part is that she spends the entire time flirting with Danny Crystal! Meanwhile, I'm left to teach the freshmen while she twirls her hair and flaunts her skirt for him!" Billie exclaimed, gesticulating wildly.

"How dare she." Ivy enunciated. She crossed her arms, shaking her head in mock shame.

"I know right!" Billie continued her rant, leaning against a wall.

Ivy giggled, shoving Lane playfully. The two had barely registered any of Billie's words. Ivy smiled, but it fell once she noticed the contemplative look on Lane's face.

"What's wrong?" she whispered, not wanting to interrupt Billie.

"Do you ever want to try something new?" Lane asked.

Ivy frowned, not sure where this was coming from. "Well, yeah. Why'd you ask?"

"I just," Lane sighed. "I feel like I need something new in my life."

"Is everything alright? What did your mom do this time?" Ivy asked.

"Nothing. I just," Lane mumbled. "Nevermind."

Ivy was still concerned for Lane, but if she didn't want to talk about it, she would respect her boundaries.

When the bell rang, that signaled the end of Billie's rant. At that, Ivy linked arms with both girls and walked inside.

"Welcome to hell, ladies."

𝐈𝐓 𝐒𝐄𝐄𝐌𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐈𝐕𝐘 could not escape Billie's endless chatter about the cheer squad. She didn't stop to think that waiting for Billie's cheer practice to end meant that her friend would have a whole new set of things to complain about.

As they strolled the streets of Stars Hollow, Ivy started to grow bored. She was trying her best to be supportive of her friend's problems, but it was getting to be too much.

Thankfully, she was able to escape when she noticed the crowd around Doose's market. "Let's check it out." Ivy pulled Billie along with her, pushing through the crowd to reach her sister.

"What's up?" she asked, trying to peek over the tape. "Ooh, a body?"

"That's what the police think." Lane said.
