🍂 — legal favors and rory shrines
𝐀𝐒 𝐔𝐒𝐔𝐀𝐋, Friday night dinner in Hartford was a total mess.
Ivy had to stop herself from full on cackling when she saw Rory's portrait. And of course, Lorelai and Emily got into another argument, which was no surprise.
The Gilmores left the dinner with tension still in the air as they drove home. When they got back into the house, the twins went straight to their room.
Ivy collapsed on her bed, flopping backwards. She stared at the ceiling, giggling when she remembered Rory's portrait.
"I legit need a copy of that portrait."
"Stop." Rory whined.
"I need a copy for our room. We can hang it right in front of your bed so you can stare at it before you go to sleep."
Rory glared at her sister. "It's unfair that you didn't have to do a portrait."
"Well, grandpa likes you more." Ivy said.
"But, grandma likes you better!"
Ivy chuckled. "I bet that one day grandma will have a portrait of me painted. With the swan this time."
The pair was silent for a moment, doing their own thing, until Ivy gasped. "I have a better idea!"
"About what?" Rory asked, looking up from her book.
"Your portrait."
Rory sighed, "What's your idea?"
"We'll get one copy for us and one for Dean!"
As Ivy cheered at her brilliant idea, Rory groaned and went back to her book.
"Maybe he'll hang it up right over his bed. So, he can stare at his cute little girlfriend." Ivy went on.
"Please, stop."
"Oh, or he can make a Rory shrine. To dedicate his love to you. He'll scatter rose petals and candles and stuff so he can have a place to worship you."
"You need a mental asylum." Rory stressed.
"Is it a disease to believe in love?" Ivy smiled.
"Yes."
Ivy laughed. "How are you and Dean doing, anyways?"
"We're good." Rory nodded. "Oh, and your boyfriend really needs to get his act together."
"My boyfriend?" Ivy questioned.
"Yeah, Jess."
She sighed, "Not my boyfriend. What did he do anyways?"
"He has absolutely no respect for the rules! And poor Luke has to deal with Taylor and the townspeople hating him just because of Jess." Rory complained.
"Not all of us can be perfect little rule followers like you, Rory." Ivy pointed out.
"But you follow the rules. Lane does, so does Dean." Rory went on.
"But we've all been here much longer. I know Dean's been here a year, but his family chose to move here. Jess probably didn't want to come here." Ivy tried to reason with her sister. "Imagine if you had to leave Stars Hollow to go, live with dad or something. You would probably act out in some way."
Rory frowned, accepting Ivy's point. "I guess so. I just didn't like seeing everyone mad at Luke because of Jess."
"I get that, Rory." Ivy smiled softly at her sister. Whenever Rory was this upset about an issue, there was always some sweet reason behind it.
