"Abbie, abbie, abbie" I can hear someone whispering in my ear.
"Go away Dad."
"I'm not daddy!"
"Hey Gracey, why are you awake so early?"
"I'm soooooooo excited about school today. We have sport and Healthy Harold is coming." Grace replied
"Why don't you go and eat some breaky - I need to talk to Abbie." My dad says from the doorway. Shit. I roll over and put my head under a pillow.
"Nuh uh" My dad says pulling the pillow off my head. I got out of bed and started to get ready while dad lectured me.
"I want you on your best behaviour today Abigail. You know the consequence if something like this happens again"
"Yeah, yeah boarding school in Sydney."
"I love you Abbie - best behaviour today got it?" He said giving me a kiss on the top of my head and walked out. I got dressed and headed downstairs just in time to grab a pastry off the breakfast table.
"Be ready to go in 10 Abbie." Jodie said
"What why, I'm gonna leave now" I replied confused
"I'll drive you to school today on my way to work."
"No it's fine I'll walk." I said standing up
"Abbie, sit" My dad butts in. I roll my eyes and walk out of the room and up to my bed.
"Do you want to tell me what that was?" Dad asks
"Do you seriously not trust me enough to walk to school -like I have for the past like 5 years?" I spit back
"Jodie just said she would be happy to drive you, it would be nice for you two to be able to talk. Plus the other 3 will be there so it's not just the 2 of you. Be ready to go in 5" He said leaving the room. Ughhhh I scream into my pillow.
