Yrsa had been quiet for days now, barely speaking to anyone after Sihtric's betrayal. Finan had tried his best to bring her out of her shell trying to get her to speak to people, but her days were spent with Beastie or polishing her weapons. Her bow lay disused to the side of her, for she had not dared to touch it since she shot her husband. Though, could she even call Sihtric that for he had left her alone and with child?

"Yrsa?" The woman paused in brushing down Beastie, barely looking over her shoulder to confirm that it was Uhtred. She turned away from him. "Yrsa, I-"

She huffed, turning back to her horse. The large shire twisted, flattening his ears to his skull in Uhtred's direction as the man paused.

"Finan told me what had happened, that Sihtric is gone. He said he found you out in the rain." Uhtred stepped closer as Beastie pawed in warning. "Yrsa, I am sorry."

Still, she said nothing. This was his fault just as much as it was Sihtric's. He had told her husband to leave, instead of just letting their tempers cool. He had split her family up, he had split Sihtric from her and he had brought the curse into their lives and homes.

Uhtred had caused Yrsa to be alone.

"Yrsa, speak to me."

"Lord." She spat the word out, before throwing her brush down and tying Beastie back up. She did not look at Uhtred as she brushed past him to exit, though his hand caught her arm.

"Yrsa, I am sorry." Uhtred promised, trying to meet the woman's eyes. She shrugged him off, glaring at him vehemently as he sighed, before she disappeared past him and into the main hall once more. Finan was waiting, nudging her as she passed, but Yrsa ignored him to hurry back to her own room, not wanting to speak to anyone.

"Yrsa, hear him out." She rolled her eyes at Finan's words. "You know that we cannot do this without you."

She turned to glare at him the sentiment. Sihtric was gone, Uhtred had sent him from them and Sihtric had betrayed them.

As much as Yrsa wished to remain with Aethelflaed, to protect herself and her unborn child and to leave the others be to their foolish plans, she could not. She cared for Finan as if he were her brother and Osferth too, though she knew the baby monk was still scared of her, and she could not leave them be without protection. In some ways, she still cared for Uhtred, though her anger outweighed that at the moment.

Another part of her wanted to see Sihtric on the field of battle, to look into his eyes and to see what he would do or what he would say.

So, she had pulled her armour on, trying it up as loose as she could manage so that it would still fit around the slight swell of her stomach. Her child moved inside of her as Yrsa picked her bow up, memories of that horrible night filling her mind, though she pushed them down to sling it over her shoulder.
