The ride back to Winchester had not been a pleasant one. The dead man in the grave had left everyone on edge, and Yrsa had been all too happy to return to the Saxon capital. She had sunk into her bed, and into her lover's arms, and was reluctant to leave that comfort even for the upcoming wedding.

"Why are we waking this early?"

"For Father Beocca's wedding." Sihtric pushed Yrsa's auburn hair away from her head as she whined and attempted to fall back to sleep. "Come now, you will enjoy it."

"Two weddings in one day is too much." Yrsa hissed, before finally standing up. "Can I wear armour?"

"No."

Yrsa huffed, pulling her nicest dress from the chest at the end of their bed. The only reason she even had it was because of Hild, who had insisted that she should bring one. It was quick to pull on and tie up, leaving Sihtric and Yrsa a little time to meander their way to the chapel where the others were already waiting.

"Yrsa." Hild placed a small piece of bread into her hand, that was covered in honey. "You'll feel better once you eat."

The girl nodded, offering no argument to the monk as she chewed on her food and swallowed it quickly. Sihtric had abandoned her side to stand with Finan, but Yrsa stayed with Hild, thankful for the nun's company especially after seeing the dead man the night before.

The doors behind them opened, before Uhtred appeared with his sister on his arms. Beocca had appeared from a side chamber, beaming at the sight of his bride-to-be as Uhtred came to a stop in front of them.

He placed his sisters hand onto Beocca's before smiling.

"I am witness." He spoke softly, tying their hands together as he did. "You are together, never to part, bound as man and his wife."

"And a prayer?"

"I don't know any prayers." The others around them burst into laughter, as Yrsa shook her head.

"I will say a prayer." Hild stepped forward, leaving Yrsa with Lady Giesla as she smiled gently.

"Hild." Beocca looks worried, though Yrsa believed that was the normal look on his face. "Please."

"Let us pray that God and all his saint and all his angels in heaven smile and bless you." Hild smiled as Yrsa shared a small glance with Sihtric, who was already watching her. "Let us pray that this union of Dane and Saxon can show that this is a land for all people-"
