"look!" yoonji enthusiastically points towards the now not-so-empty space from across the street. oh wow, someone's actually interested in building something in that area? now that's what i call brave.
"wanna bet on what they're gonna build in there? i bet it's another boutique shop." eunjin giggles as she continues to take more photos of what she's having.
i find it really funny how she takes photos of her same order: two nutella-drizzled strawberry croffles and her beloved medium iced matcha latte. "with love," as she usually says.
"would love for it to be an ice cream place. i'd go there every single day, no doubt about that." yoonji pouts, making me take another look at it before letting out a hum.
"really surprised to see that someone would want to build something there for their business. last time that ever happened, the owner ended up losing so much more than she's ever invested to build the place." i recall, before seeing a group of construction men probably start discussing their project.
"wasn't that a salon place before?" eunjin asks, earning a nod from both yoonji and i.
"it wasn't doing that bad until the owner self-sabotaged her own small business. it had so much potential, which is such a shame." yoonji replies, which i highly agree on.
"i'm giving that place two weeks." i say, taking a bite of my chocolate custard pie, which by the way SLAPS way harder than that abusive mother of yours. no wonder why this is the café's top-selling pastry.
"no wonder why this is the top-selling pastry here." yoonji says, making me start laughing because of the fact that i deadass just said that. same red blood cells forever.
"bitch—i literally just said that in my head." i say, happily eating more of the dessert i'm sharing with yoonji.
"sooo, how was your talk with haerin?" yoonji brings up, making me go in awe.
"well, our new menu items apparently costed so much more than expected. she said that we should get cheaper ingredients without losing quality."
"soooo, we're gonna have to look into suppliers and adjust the prices for our new items." i finish, before i couldn't help but remember all the stuff we've talked about after that—like how we got to witness hanni panic run towards us because jungkook poured way too much hot sauce on that one customer's baguette sandwich.
only for the man to not even realize jungkook's "mistake." knowing him, he definitely did that on purpose. that old man's been a regular here, and not once has he been nice to any of the staffs.

"i've been looking over last quarter's sales, and i'm concerned about the revenue ..."
"seems like we're not hitting our targets." i say as i start reviewing the statistics for what the hell's going on with the bookstore's sales through paper.
"ahh yes. our revenue has been declining a bit. the non-fiction section has been really pulling our average down." seungmin says, as i let out a hum in return.
"what if we'll finally hire a social media manager to further boost our online engagement?" i suggest, causing him to smile and nod.
"we need one of those tiktok people to promote us like it's the best place for books." i say, taking out my phone to check out the most trending people involved in the booktok community.
"anyways, how about i do a "but one, get one half off" for our bestsellers? you think that could help?" i add, going back to the piece of paper i dread holding onto.
i'm known to be a bit of a paranoid freak when it comes to sales according to my peers. however, i just see it as me being a strategist.
"weren't we just talking about hiring a social media manager? why don't we get back to that?" he asks, making me give myself a mental face palm, as i've done it again. i can't seem to slow down with all of my ideas. i have got to work on that asap.

"mom, did you really just post about needing to hire another florist without informing me? hyejin told me about it." i say with my arms crossed, trying not to lose my temper with this one.
i don't get why she's always telling me that i'm "not as independent as i'm supposed to" when she's constantly up my ass.
"i simply thought that you needed some more help. you're going back to university in a couple of days ..."
notice how she really emphasized that i needed help, as if i've been the one messing things up around here. how considerate of you to use me to make things easier for you without bothering to tell me, mother.
"and the shop's sales have really surged over the last month." she adds. i can't believe this. does she even know how i might have to change my personal phone number after she just publicly posted mine?
what's the point of having a business phone number if she—urgh! yawa i'm soooooooooooo annoyed rn.
"you should have at least used the business number for people to contact to, mom. i almost had a heart attack because of all the unknown messages and calls that i got."
"and mom, you should have discussed this whole "we need to hire someone new" thing with me beforehand." i say, letting out a sigh as i kept seeing more and more messages and calls from tons and tons of people.
"are you even hearing yourself? you're being disrespectful to your own mother." she says, causing me to let out a derisive chuckle.
"sure i am." i mumble, rolling my eyes before i storm off.
