it was one of those nights where we all desperately needed a break from the chaos of our daily lives, so yoonji, eunjin, and i decided to hit up a private karaoke room. the plan was simple: sing our hearts out, share a few drinks, and just unwind. little did we know it would turn into a night of epic proportions.
when we arrived at the karaoke place, the neon lights and upbeat music immediately set the mood. we were shown to our room—a small but cozy space with a huge screen and a selection of the latest hits.
yoonji, ever the planner, had already arranged for a variety of drinks to be delivered. i was secretly excited but also a bit apprehensive about how this night would unfold.
"okay, who's starting us off?" yoonji asked, her voice already hinting at the mischief she had in mind.
eunjin grinned, a mischievous twinkle in her eye. "i think we should start with a warm-up song?"
"no way! i'm starting with my favorite." i said, grabbing the remote and selecting a k-pop hit that i had been dying to perform.
the opening notes blasted through the speakers, and we were off.
as we sang along, yoonji and eunjin were quick to join in, each trying to outdo the other with their impressive (yet sometimes off-key) vocals. we laughed so hard that eunjin nearly spilled her drink while attempting a particularly enthusiastic dance move.
once we had warmed up our vocal cords, we moved on to the drinking part. the drinks started flowing, and soon we were all getting a bit tipsy. that's when things took a turn for all the chaos.
"let's play a game!" yoonji suggested, leaning back with a grin. "how about 'smash or pass'? it's been ages since we last played!"
eunjin and i exchanged amused glances. "oh, this is going to be interesting." i said, grabbing another drink.
as the night went on, we sang everything from classic ballads to upbeat pop songs. the room was a mess of empty drink glasses, scattered snacks, and three overenthusiastic women belting out lyrics with the same amount of passion rock stars got.
we were so loud and off-key that i was convinced the entire building could hear us.
at one point, eunjin, trying to impress us with her "special" karaoke dance, slipped on a stray snack and ended up in a heap on the floor. she looked up at us, her face a mix of embarrassment and laughter, and we all burst into uncontrollable giggles.
in the middle of our karaoke spree, we got into a deep conversation about what we'd been up to recently.
i couldn't help but tell them all about what happened during jungwon's haunted house adventures (thank you, sunoo) and how ridiculous everything sounded.
as the drinks continued to flow, our stories became more outrageous, and our laughter more raucous. at one point, yoonji accidentally knocked over a drink while attempting a high note, and eunjin ended up with a splash of whiskey on her shirt.
we all laughed so hard that we nearly cried, and yoonji just kept going and going for more drinks.

as the night progressed, i could feel the alcohol starting to hit me. i was in that fuzzy, carefree zone where everything seemed hilarious, and the boundaries between right and wrong felt a bit blurred.
