jungwon
i've always prided myself on being a rational person, but ever since i bought this new house, that rationality's suddenly gotten severely tested.
the house was nice, with a quaint exterior and plenty of space inside. the only problem? pretty sure it's haunted.
i've heard the eerie cries of a lady on multiple occasions, but i had to keep it to myself, too embarrassed to admit that i wanted to leave because of some ghost.
but, tonight's going to be different. the ghost suddenly shown up.
i've been sitting in my living room, trying to unwind with some good old music, when i saw her.
a translucent figure of a 30 yr old something woman, face twisted in sorrow, standing at the foot of the stairs. my heart leaped into my throat, suddenly feeling a cold sweat break out on my forehead.
panic surged through me, but i've decided it was time for me to finally face my fear.
and so, i stood up, legs shaky, and took a brave step towards the ghost. "what do you want from me?"
suddenly, her eyes seem to he locked onto mine. for a moment, i thought i saw a flicker of challenge in her expression. her lips moved, but no sound came out.
this silence is deafening. i'm afraid that my fear's gotten stronger instead- why is she suddenly walking towards me?
okay, that was it. i'm never going back there. i ran out of the living room, my mind racing. who the hell could i call at this hour? it's already super duper late.
one by one, they all just went to voice mail.
finally, someone picked up. it's jay.
"yeah?" he asked.
"oh thank god-" i blurted out, a flood of relief goinf through me. "i need your help ... there's a ghost in my house?"
finally, someone picked up. "hello?" came a groggy voice.
"jay! thank god," i blurted out, relief flooding through me. "i need your help. there's a ghost in my house! and- and- she does not seem nice at all! awhile ago she was just standing in the staircase and-"
there was a pause, and then jay's voice came back, a bit more awake after hearing "ghost" this time. "jungwon, slow down ... ghost?"
"i'm serious, man. it's real! she's here, and i don't- ... i can't stay here alone." i said, my voice trembling.
"i'll be there in a few minutes, okay? just hang tight." jay replied, right before the call ended.
i sat on the edge of my couch, trying to steady my breathing. i glanced nervously at the staircase, half expecting the ghost to appear again. each minute felt like an eternity, but soon enough, there was a knock at the door.
i rushed to open it, finding jay standing there, looking both worried and confused. "thanks for coming." i said, pulling jay inside quickly.
"no problem. but seriously, a ghost?" jay asked, glancing around the house.
"i know it sounds crazy, but it's true. i've heard her before, but tonight ... i saw her." i explained, my voice shaky.
jay nodded, probably taking in my obvious fear. "alright, let's figure this out. where did you see her?"
"at the foot of the stairs." i said, pointing.
jay took a deep breath and started walking toward the stairs. "let's take a look then."
