"quick! she's coming." i urgently whisper to both ken and eunjin. i hope this goes well. we literally look so silly right now with our "yoonji day" shirts on. it's a photo of her looking so kokit and just so so pretty. just the way she likes it, or else she'll hate us for "not picking a good photo of her" for the rest of our damn lives.

"ken, is the cake ready?" he starts taking off some tape from the cake box, but it looks like he's having a ton of trouble from it.

we all knew what kind of cake she'd want to have ... "anything coquette" is what we called it. that girl loves her pinks and soft girl looks.

really ironic because during the last year of senior high, she'd only ever wear black on black on black. everything she owned were black.

girlie really wanted the mysterious asian girl look.

"awe man, i don't have any fingernails ... i might ruin her cake." he pouts, attempting to take off the tape, despite "not having any fingernails."

"hold up—how about the lighter for the candles?" ken suddenly brings up to eunjin, whose eyes widened in shock. i know that look of hers. she forgot about it.

"oh shit." she says before she suddenly dashes away from us. now what the hell is she doing right now?

"i know you carry around a lighter." eunjin says with a frown on her face just as her friend (?) starts rummaging her own bag. oh my god that girl can't take so long for that ...

"DONE!" okay what the fuck- kennychiwa almost gave me a heart attack. he looks at me with a childish grin, showing off the unruined cake.

"oh god-" i muttered, already seeing yoonji from a distance. that girl can walk really fast. a couple of minutes ago she was just telling me about going to the comfort room and then picking something up from the library ... okay, that or time just flies faster when you're rushing with a bunch of doodoohe-

"I GOT IT!!" eunjin excitedly says before happily skipping towards us.

"remember what we planned about ..." i lead before thinking about doing a countdown.

"1, 2, 3, SURPRISE!!"

"—HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOONJI!" the three of us said so out of sync, BITCH that was so embarrassing ...

i hand yoonji her bouquet of daisies. she seems to have noticed our mistake, judging by her looking like she's about to laugh- instead of get hella surprised by our cute little gesture, which is what we for sure intended to happen. but oh well, she still looked a bit surprised ... i think. haha this is me lying to myself just to make me feel better.

"you guys-" she says just after ken puts the cake down, squeezing the three of us into a group hug. awww, this is actually so cute.

"quick! make a wish." i excitedly say, seeing ken carry the cake again. eunjin looks really silly holding onto her friend's lighter like that.

"hey, i'm confused." yoonji says before being able to look at the cake up-front. no fucking candles.

oh my god. NO WAY WE MADE THIS MISTAKE-

"hey, i thought you were the one assigned for candles!" eunjin barks at me, causing my brows to furrow, making my head turn to ken, who's already looking at me.

"how am i the one assigned to bring the candles?" i question. there's no way i'd assign myself on candles, given that it's no fun. i'm always the one delegating the tasks and the one collecting all the money for this. i assigned myself on the shirts!
