Arjun was sleeping soundly. As he was sleeping shirtless they had kept air conditioner to room temperature. At about twelve o'clock at night suddenly Arjun could here chattering of teeth. The sound was very loud.
Arjun woke up with the sound and looked for its source. He could see Arohi shivering. First he put off the air conditioner. He touched Arohi's forehead and he could feel she was burning with fever.
"What's wrong with this girl?" He thought then he remembered she was soaked before and just a day before she was back from hospital.
"This girl is a doctor but does not know how to take care of herself. What shall I do know?" Thought Arjun
"Arohi" Arjun called her
But Arohi was shivering very badly with no response.
Arjun called her again, still no response. After calling her for seven times she stirred a little.
"I need to feed her medicine" Arjun talked to himself.
He got up and took out the medicine from the drawer and with lot of difficulty and after calling Arohi multiple times Arjun made Arohi take the medicine. He adjusted the blanket over Arohi and took out another blanket form the cupboard and put it on her. Then he took out his phone and called Rashi.
"Bhai, why have you called so late? Are you alright?" Rashi asked in rush
"I am fine. Arohi is having fever. I have fed her the medicine. Can you change shift with me?" asked Arjun
"Sure bhai no issues. Take care of Bhabhi. I'll go in the Morning Shift." said Rashi
"Sorry Rashi for bothering you and thanks a lot." said Arjun apolitically.
"Bhai Arohi is my friend too and now she is my bhabhi you should take care of her don't you worry bye." said Rashi and hung up the phone.
Arohi was still shivering. Arjun felt really uncomfortable looking Arohi in such condition.
He slowly slipped into her blanket. As soon as Arohi felt Arjun's presence she suddenly started to feel warm. Arjun too noticed her body started to calm down. He looked at her very lovingly.
He kissed her on the forehead and his eyes slowly drifted to her lips. He had a very strong urge to capture those lips.
"Not fair Arjun" his inner voice said.
"I really want to" his heart was making it unbearable for him to control
With much of inner struggle he slowly bend down to her lips. He was so close to her, in her subconscious mind Arohi could feel Arjun. She became more relaxed like she was at home.
Her heart and mind were in perfect sync may be for the first time after her mother's death but she didn't know this. Her mind was also slowly accepting Arjun albeit of all the things in the past. Her mind was surprised too. But her mind let go of the struggle for once. Her unconscious state was helping her struggles.
Arjun's struggles were very obvious because he was wide awake. He was so close to her that his self-control was at risk still his mind was saying not to. After a very long internal struggle he pulled himself back.
"How are you different from Parth Arjun if you want to take advantage of her?" his mind said
"What you mean by that. I am not like him" said his heart
"Than what were you doing without her permission" asked his mind
"I didn't do anything. Even if I did it would have been just a peck." said his heart defensively.
"But do you have her permission?" his mind again questioned.
"I just... no..." his heart finally accepted that he was doing wrong.
"Listen Arjun, be clear what you feel about her and even if someday you like her will she like you back?" his mind was making it's point strongly.
"We have kissed before haven't we?" his heart was holding on to the hope.
"Does that mean you like her? All those kisses which were without her permission you paid with her anger if you have forgotten." his mind wasn't going on back foot.
"Like? What you mean by like? I don't. Do I?" Arjun's heart was confused.
"Sort this out as soon as possible, will you? This confusion is making you lose yourself. You are taking Arohi for granted just like few minutes before." said Arjun's mind.
"Granted?" his heart asked in doubt
"Yes granted, you thought you can just give her a peck as she is sleeping without her permission and she will not object, but if and only if you like her or she likes you and you are going to carry on with this marriage you have a right to do that you know?
Before that you should not do anything out of bounds." his mind said sternly.
"I understand." his heart finally came in terms with his mind.
"Arohi must be in this conflict every day from the past 16 years. I just had a conflict with few minutes and I am so much exhausted. How she must be doing this?" thought Arjun
"I need to sort out everything as soon as possible. Arohi cares for me I know that but will she be willing to be my wife in real? Even if I want to continue this marriage will she be able to?
I agree I am scared of getting hurt if she rejects me but will she reject me? Two years back she must have felt terrible. Have I hurt her wounded heart too much?
Will she forgive me? I need to mend things between us only then this marriage will have a chance."
"I want to try staying married to her" Arjun whispered slowly. He has finally realized that it was not that bad to marry someone who knows you in and out.
He made himself comfortable and slept very close to Arohi giving her warmth of being protected.
"I USED TO HATE YOU BUT I THINK NOW...."Arjun stopped himself from thinking further and closed his eyes.
