Poppy's Pov
After my breakup with Branch, I spent all my night in my old room, pouring my eyes out. Tomorrow it's the wedding. I'm not in love with Creek but I lost Branch as well. Can this get any worse?
"Poppy? Everything okay in there?" Barb said. She's really worried about me. I didn't tell her about the breakup yet.
"May I come in, Poppy?"
"Y-yeah."
Barb entered the room and noticed that my eyes were red.
"Popsqueak, what happened? It's because of the wedding?"
"It's not the only reason, Barb. Branch and I....broke up, yesterday."
"Why?"
"Branch overheard Creek the other day, saying that he will hurt me, because he started getting suspicious of us. I said some horrible things to him, because I was hurt....and mad....and..."
"I get it. But, Popsqueak, maybe it's better this way. Maybe it's better for both of you."
"I guess. But,....I love him, Barb." I said and I hugged her tightly.
"So what happens now?"
"We're getting ready for the wedding."
"Isn't Creek gonna be suspicious, if you stay here all day?"
"Thankfully, the groom can't see the wife before the wedding, right?"
The next day
Branch's Pov
I spent all my day yesterday in my room. I miss Poppy. Her voice, her eyes, her laugh, everything about her.
"Branch, get out of bed!!!!" Guy said
"Leave me alone." I said while I was hiding my face under my pillow.
"You're in here for a whole day. The Queen is worried. Tomorrow is the wedding. We have to get ready."
"Of course. That's my grandma's only concern. The wedding."
"What's wrong?"
"I broke up with Poppy."
"What? Why? When? You have to apologise to her now. Get up." Guy said while he was trying to lift me up.
"No Guy!!! Poppy was in danger because of me. If Poppy doesn't betray Creek, she's gonna be fine. This is how it has to be. Poppy must be with Creek."
"You can't give up on her, Branch. I backed you up. I risk my job and my life for you guys." He said and he left
"Guy wait..."
The wedding day
Poppy's Pov
Today is the day.
Yeahhh.
This is a disaster!!!! My dad is on his way and I want to tell him the truth, but he's gonna kill me, literally. Satin and Chenille help me with my dress and my hair and then my dad came.....
"Poppy!!!"
"Dad!!!!" I said and I run up to him and hugged him
"Aren't you excited?"
"Actually I'm nervous."
"Did it work? Are you and Creek...you know...in love?"
"Actually, dad..." I couldn't finish my sentence because Branch entered the room.
"Sorry, is it a bad timing?"
"Actually..." I tried to say but my dad said "No, not at all, prince Branch. I'm going to find the Queen."
When my dad left, Branch close the door and came closer to me.
"Y-you look like an angel."
"T-thank you. What are you doing here?"
"I-i don't know. I just wanted to see you before..."
"Don't say it."
"Poppy, I need to tell you something."
"I'm gonna be late, Branch." I said and I tried to leave but Branch grabbed my hand.
"I wasn't messing around."
".........Branch, before I make the biggest mistake of my life, I have to tell you something as well. I..."
"Poppy, it's time." Barb said
"Yeah, I'm coming." I said and I left Branch alone in my room.
"Thank you, Barb. I was gonna make a huge mistake. I was gonna ruin everything."
"Maybe, you should?"
"What do you mean?"
"Poppy, you can't just forget him and marry Creek."
"Barb, you don't understand!!!!"
"Then help me do, Popsqueak."
"I-i....Creek is waiting for me." I said and i left.
I saw my dad waiting for me. I was hoping that this day was going to be special. That my dad would walked me through the crowd and I was gonna marry.........I have to forget about him!!!!
My dad and I were walking down the aisle. I saw Branch looking at me with a sad and disappointed expression.
My dad presented me to Creek and Creek said "You're pretty." But then I saw Branch again staring at me and remembered his words...
"You look like an angel."
"I wasn't messing around."
And now me and Creek are officially married. In a few months, Creek is going to be King and I'm gonna be the invisible and miserable Queen. As for Branch and I......I don't know.....
Maybe I was wrong after all. Maybe my biggest mistake was this marriage.
