Chapter 18

Poppy's Pov

After Creek's death, all the trolls of the kingdom regained their colours. The party crashers, Archer included, got banished from pop Kingdom. The castle was repaired and my friends got their jobs back and everything was back to normal. As for Branch and his grandma, things weren't good. I haven't seen Branch in days. He has isolated himself in his room and he doesn't let anyone in. Not even me. I don't know why he's been avoiding me. As for the Queen, she's in a terrible state. I wrote a letter to my dad explaining everything and he's on his way.

Me and the others were standing outside Branch's room and we were waiting for him to finally come out.

"Branch. It's me. Can we please talk?"

No answer.

"Branch, buddy??? Just please answer us." Guy Diamond said

"Open the damn door, dude!!!" Barb said

"Branch, please. We're worrying about you."

"Go away!!!" Branch's voice was heard from the other side of the door

"Branch!!!! Please!!!!"

"Maybe he needs more time, sugar." Holly said

"He will answer, eventually. You know that he can't stay away from you." Biggie said

"Okay, Branch, I'll leave. But, I want you to know that I miss you and I'm here if you need to talk to someone." I said and I left him be. I hope he heard that.

Since Branch didn't want to open up, I paid a visit to the Queen. I knocked on her door and Cooper opened the door for me.

"It's princess Poppy, your majesty." Cooper said

"Let her in, Cooper."

I entered her room and saw her waiting for me in her bed.

"Hey sweetheart."

"Hey your majesty. How are you?"

"I'm getting better. How are you?"

"Okay, I think."

"Poppy I'm so sorry. I should have never agreed to this wedding. I knew about Creek's condition and I didn't do anything."

"Your majesty, don't be. You couldn't do anything."

"I could but because I was so selfish I lost my grandson, I put your life in danger and I almost lost Branch."

"What do you mean when you say that you were selfish?"

"I lied. The reason that Creek was going  to be King in the first place was that I was afraid that the other trolls wouldn't want or trust Branch as their leader because he's colourless."

"How did Branch lost his colours in the first place?"

"His parents, my son and his wife, was found one day dead in the forest. They died under weird circumstances."

My poor baby

"We don't know what happened, but I always had the feeling that it had something to do with Creek's dad, my other son."

"Why would you assume that?"

"Creek's dad was also in love with Branch's mom. He was exactly like Creek. Jealous and emotionless. Obviously, all this, this love triangle between you, Branch and Creek, had happened again. Speaking of Branch, how is he? How is my boy?"

"He's......not well. He has isolated himself in his room. He doesn't come out or let anyone speak to him. Not even me. I think that he's still in shock after what happened. Maybe, he's feeling guilty and maybe he's afraid of your reaction. I think that you should talk to him. And be honest with him."

"I will. But, I think that Branch needs you more than me, right now. Please, Poppy. Help my grandson."

"I'll do my best. Can I ask you something?"

"Of course. Anything you want."

"What about the deal? Now that Creek's dead and the wedding is obviously off..."

"A deal is a deal. Flower kingdom has and always will have our protection. Besides, it was all my fault."

"Actually, I think that we're that ones to blame."

Branch's Pov

I want to see Poppy. I missed her too. She's the only one that I can trust and be myself. I have no idea why I keep avoiding everyone. But, what I did....is just too much. I killed my cousin. And his last words are still echoing in my ears.

"Branch. It's me again." Poppy's voice was heard.

I need to see her face. She is the only one that can understand me. So, I finally opened the door. Once, I opened it I ran up to her and hugged her like there was no tomorrow. I realised that it took her by suprise, but eventually she hugged me back.

"Come in."

Me and Poppy sat on my bed and Poppy looked really confused and worried.

Poppy's Pov

"Branch, I was so worried. Why did you keep avoiding us?"

"I still can't believe what happened. I killed Creek. My own cousin. I did a horrible thing."

"Branch, it wasn't your fault. Creek was gonna kill you. Both of us. And for what? Because we were in love? That guy was sick. You shouldn't blame yourself."

"I'm still a murderer, Poppy. My grandma will never forgive me."

"She does forgive you. I talked to her earlier this day. She blames herself for what happened."

"Why?"

"That's something that she has to tell you in person. Branch.....what happened in there?"

"It turned out, Creek had a lot to say."

Flashback

Me and Creek were fighting. I was trying to take his sword off of his hand. Creek had gained the upper hand. He was on top of me and he was ready to cut me with his sword. I kept struggling and I was trying to fight back and then he said :

"I'm gonna kill you, Branch. Just like my dad killed your parents."

When he said that at first I was frozen and broken, but then I got furious.

End of flashback

"And of course, you know what happened then."

"Things got out of hand." I said and Branch nodded.

"I'm a terrible troll."

"Branch, stop blaming yourself. After everything you've been through you didn't lose hope and you didn't stop fighting for your people and your friends. And in the end you saved everyone." I said and took his hand in mine. "And me. You're an amazing troll, Branch. You're kind, smart, caring, strong, loyal. You're parents would be very proud of you. Just like I am." When I said that his eyes widened and he kissed me.

"I think that you should go and talk to your grandma." I said and he nodded.

"Will you come along?" He said and I smiled at him.
