Chapter 7

Poppy's Pov

I woke up this morning and I was on my bed and Branch was gone. I got out of bed and found a note that Branch left me:

I'll see you tomorrow. Meet me at the garden at 11:00 pm .

All this is a bad idea, but I can't resist him. I went down to the dining room for breakfast when I saw the Queen talking to Branch.

Branch's Pov

"Branch!!!!!!" Guy Diamond yelled

"What????"

"Wake up. The Queen wants to talk to you."

She knows already? We didn't even started dating yet.

"She said that it's really important."

"Fine. I'm going."

I went to the dining room and saw my grandma waiting for me.

"Morning grandma."

"Morning sweetie."

"You wanted to see me?"

"Yes, Branch. I wanted to tell you that I'm so glad that you and Poppy are doing well. It's really important for our kingdom and for Creek's relationship with her."

Wish you knew. 😏

"It's not a big deal."

Then Synth, one of our guards, escorted Poppy to the dining room. I hope she found my note.

"Morning." She said. Her voice is like an angels.

"Morning honey."

"Morning Branch."

"Morning Poppy."

"Did you sleep well?" My grandma asked her

"Yeah." She said and she winked at me

"That's good to hear. Well, Creek sent me a letter and he's gonna come back earlier."

"Earlier?" I asked her and Poppy kicked my foot under the table. She's right. What I did was reckless.

"Yeah, he's gonna come back today."

"Today?" We both said in unison

"I thought that you were gonna be excited, Poppy."

"I am. It was just unexpected. What a great surprise."

Poppy's Pov

After we finished our breakfast the Queen left because she had to talk to her seamstresses about my wedding dress. Me and Branch left the dining room as well and when no one was watching us I pushed Branch to an empty room.

"What happened?"

"Branch, Creek is coming back earlier. He won't leave me alone."

"Yeah, I thought about it as well. That means..."

"That we can't meet today." I said in a sad voice but Branch noticed the disappointment on my face and he hugged me.

"Hey, don't worry. It's okay. We'll find another day to meet when no one will disturb us. And I have the perfect spot."

"Where?"

"It's a surprise."

"Okay, but when?" I asked but then I had and idea "Wait. Branch, Creek is having a meeting the day after tomorrow at 8:00 pm. We can meet then."

"You're amazing, you know that?" He said and I blushed

"Stop it. Now go before anyone comes in" I said and I tried to push him out of the door, he sent me a kiss and then he left.

I was heading back to my room (Not Creek's room) when someone grabbed my hand and pushed me to another room.

"What are you doing?" I said while I was laughing because I thought that it was Branch. But, instead it was Creek.

"C-Creek your back." I said and I was trying to sound excited.

"Did you miss me?"

"You bet I did."

"Why were you going to your old room?"

"I was staying there these last few days, it didn't feel right to sleep in your room...alone."

"I like that." He said and I smiled awkwardly at him.

"I invited everyone to our wedding. It's going to be amazing."

"That's great."

"Did my cousin harass you?"

"No, we didn't speak at all."

"That's good to know."

"Why?

"Because he seems to be....interested in you."

"....no he's not. Besides, he doesn't seem to like me."

"Let's hope you're right." He said. That was a little bit creepy.

A few minutes later I left Creek's room because the Queen wanted to see me. But while I was walking across the hall someone grabbed me by my waist and lifted me up. He was laughing and then I realised that it wasn't Creek, but Branch.

"What are you doing? They're gonna see us." I said while I was laughing

"I missed you."

"Awwww." I said and I hugged him

"What did Creek say?"

"You have to be more careful. He said that he knows that you're.....interested in me." I said playfully

"So that's what he thinks?" He said and I nodded.

"I have to go, your grandma wants to talk to me."

"Good luck."

I went to the Queen's room and knocked on the door. Cooper, the Queen's personal guard, opened the door.

"Princess Poppy. The Queen is waiting for you." He said and opened the door for me and escorted me to the Queen's balcony.

"You wanted to see me?"

"Poppy, dear, yes. Come here."

"Is everything okay?"

"Yeah, sweetie. I wanted to talk to you about Creek."

"What about him?"

"Creek has.....IED. It stands for Impulse Explosive Disorder. It means that he has outbursts of anger and violence sometimes. That's why I wanted to warn you. You have to be careful."

"Not to be rude, but then why Creek is going to be King instead of Branch?"

"Creek is younger than Branch, but Creek's dad, my son, was older than Branch's dad. That's why Creek is going to be King. Our Kingdom is going to protect yours at all cost but because of Creek's disorder, I want you to be there for him. But you had the right to know so you can be careful. Don't hurt him, Poppy."

"Thank you. I'll be careful. I promise." I said and I was about to leave but then the Queen said "Poppy?"

"Yeah?"

"I'm so glad and that you and Branch are doing well." She said. I smiled at her and then I left.
