Second Marriage

Chapter ~ 2

Next day Vikram was preparing to leave for the another Kingdom regarding the matter of enhancing the trading partnership with more Kindoms, so that the economy could boost up.

"Is everything ready?"

Devika asked to which Vikram looked at her and said .

"Yes my love everything is okay, don't worry."

She looked at him walking ahead she hug him from behind and said.

"Take care of yourself."

Holding her hand he brings her in front of him and then he holds her from her waist pulled her towards himself and said.

"Don't worry I will take care of myself, and you do too take care of yourself."

Devika nodded her head and said.

"Don't worry I will."

Kissing her on her forehead they both walked out of their chamber and walked towards the entrance of the palace.

Looking at Devika he smiled at her and then went towards his parents who was standing there.

Bending down he touched their feets, seeking blessings he went towards his horse and sit on it, after looking at Devika's he hold the bridle of the horse, he gave the order to his convoy to move ahead.

After Vikram left from there, Devika come back to her Chamber and started to think about last night and a small smile crept on her lips making her lips go crimson red.

It was past noon when one of the attendee come she bowed at her and said.

"Pranam Rani Devika."

Devika nodded her head and said.

"Pranam."

"Raniji, The former queen has arrived and want to see you immediately."

Hearing the word from the mouth of attendee Devika heart suddenly hammered in her chest, but controlling herself she said.

"Okay, bring her in the aagami kaksk (visitors hall ), I will be there."

After hearing this attendee walk away from there after bowing at her.

After attendee left Devika heaved a sigh and integrating her emotions she went towards the aagami kaksk.

Entering inside she saw her mother-in-law standing there going towards her she said.

"Pranam Maa."

Her mother-in-law looked at her, nodded her head and said.

"Pranam Devika."

"Have a seat Maa."

Her mother-in-law nodded her head and take a seat on the couch present there. Devika too sit on the other couch just beside the one her mother-in-law was sitting.

"I want have a discussion with you Devika."

Devika nodded her head having a subtle idea about what the the matter could be , for which she is here to discuss with her

"Yes Maa, I am all ears."

"Devika you know very well what is going on in the Kingdom."

Devika nodded her head and said.

"Ji Maa."

Her mother-in-law looked at her and said.

"Then why you are having a silence on your lips about it, Devika. Why Vikram is still adamant for not accepting Second Marriage."

Devika looked down after a moment she said.

"Maa, I tried to talk to him but he was not listening and I just can't make him do the stuff which he do not want to do."

Scoffing at her words her mother-in-law said.

"Like I do not know how much of my son listen to you Devika, you are just being selfish right now, you are just thinking about yourself Devika."

Hearing her mother-in-law's word she looked at her, her heart felt a pinch.

"I and you both are well aware of the fact that he will not listen to anyone but you in regard of the matter remarriage."

Devika shake her head and said.

"No Maa, in this matter he is not listening to me also."

"Because your are not trying enough Devika. Just think about lakhs of people whose life could be ruined from this. It would have not be a problem if I had another son."

Taking a pause her mother-in-law said with a lacing distress in her voice.

"If I hadn't lost my second child and the capability of being a mother, this day would not have arrived but now the only way to save everyone is his remarriage."

Gulping down her saliva Devika looked at her mother-in-law to which she again.

"Devika I would not have said anything to you if you were not barren, if you could have given the heir to the Kingdom. But now as the wife of the King you have to fulfill your duties!! You have to accept another wife for him!"

Hearing the words of her mother-in-law her heart felt like it just got slit in multiple pieces.

"I understand that it is not your fault Devika Dear, but now it will definitely be yours if you run away from your responsibilities! How can you overlook all of your husband's hardwork, don't you know how much he worked hard for the Kingdom to be where it is now."

Her mother-in-law take a pause looked at her and again uttered.

"Vikram will not be the first man to marry again, Devika. Men here are allowed to marry multiple times ,even if they are not King because they have ensure their bloodlines, and I am sure you know how essential this is."

Devika nodded her head at her words knowing that what she said is true men do marry multiple time to ensure their bloodlines and she again continues.

"I appreciate my son that he had choosen to be one woman's man despite all but now in this crucial time he has to back away from his ought. Hope you or him will not run away from your responsibilities."

Nodding her head Devika looked at her mother-in-law and said while having a control on her emotions.

"I am not running away from my responsibilities Maa, I will make Vikram ready for his 'Second Marriage ' don't worry."

After hearing the words from her mouth her mother-in-law looked at her and said.

"Hope you will not back away from your words and your responsibilities Devika."

Again nodding her head Devika said.

"Don't worry Maa, I will not you can rest assure."

After being assured from her words her mother-in-law said.

"That's good Devika, I will start to find someone suitable match for Vikram's second wife then, so as soon he will come we can make the arrangements"

After that saying Revika walk out off aagami kaksk of Devika's chamber.

Devika sat down on the couch with her eyes filled with unshed tears. Her heart clenching with the thought of her being married again.

"What have I done to deserve this, now I have to share my husband also. Was not being able to be mother enough that now this also."

Saying this she walk towards her chamber and looked at the potrait of her husband, looking at that she said.

"I am sorry Vikram but I have to this. I am so sorry Vikram."

Saying so she sat on her bed and let her tears fells from her eyes.

"I know you said to not think about anything but what should I do now what about your years of hard work, what about all the subjects."

Saying this she laid on the bed which has her husband's scent in it, somehow she felt a warmth in the comforter, so she fell asleep while grieving over her miseries.
