Lol I think this is the first time I ever fully capitalized a chapter title 😂
WARNING: a lil bit of smut!
"THE CONTRACT IS COMPLETE," BEELZEBUB gave Loki a dark glower as he approached, throwing the cloak at the other god's face. "You can have it back now. I have no need for it anymore."
Loki let out a light hiss when he felt the Devil's mark on the right side of his waist fizzle away from existence, symbolizing the fulfillment of their old deal. He yanked the cloak off of him with a huff just as Beelzebub turned around and began to walk away.
"Oh? Funny, I remember the deal stipulating that you were required to return it once you finished doing your research with the bifrost. Percy's still here, so obviously that wasn't the case..."
Beelzebub kept walking.
A nasty smirk crawled over his face as he called out, "You killed Mimir didn't you? You sought him out for answers about the bifrost and killed him once you got what you wanted. You squandered any hope she had of returning home."
Rather than getting angry, Beelzebub turned around calmly and flashed him a smirk of his own. "And let me guess, you brought this up with Percy and she didn't believe you, did she?"
It was Loki's turn to glare now, which gave the taller god all the answers he needed to know.
He scoffed in cruel amusement. "You may have succeeded in keeping me away from her, but I will always have the one thing you long for the most: Percy's love. You never truly won at all, Loki."
He disappeared in a column of darkness, leaving Loki alone with his thoughts. The vicious look on his face fell into eerie emptiness.
"Don't you remember, dummy? I told you that I love—"
"—I don't care about that. All I care about is that you did or said something that hurt my friend. And now, Beelzebub's been avoiding me. I don't know what the fuck you did, but you better hope I don't or else this won't be the last funeral your pantheon holds."
Seething, he gripped the ends of his hair as the memory invaded his mind.
She completely dismissed his confession, and didn't even care that he loved her. Or maybe she just didn't believe it? The first time it had slipped out was when he was about to stab her after all.
Either way, one thing held true: she cared for Beelzebub more which Loki found completely unfair since he was the one who found her first. He was the one she met first when she was transported into this universe! Did no one respect the rule of 'finders keepers' nowadays?!
"I'm jealous of a fly," he bit out, his face contorting in disgust. Somehow this was a hundred times worse than when he was jealous of Baldur's human lover.
