Melissa had received several messages and missed calls from Marco. She had seen some photos and Lewis had beaten him up good.
She wasn't too worried about the legal costs, she learned about the facts after they were concluded, and Lewis already had a team of lawyers behind him.

Melissa and Lewis saw each other as often as they could, for coffee at breakfast, between workouts or simply Lewis reading or strategizing in front of Melissa while she sorted out her notes.
Unfortunately, an email arrived from Lewis' lawyer on Saturday morning.
-My dear- he said, Melissa melted but her smile immediately faded when she saw Lewis's frowning expression -what job does your boyfriend do exactly? For a living I mean...-
-I don't know honestly, we had half talked about it one evening at dinner. I know that he was supposed to inherit his father's company and that for now he is still representing it-
-What else?-
-Honestly we didn't talk much about work together, we were so tired in the evening that we talked about other things. I know he doesn't lack money-
-My lawyer let me know that he won't press charges-
-Good, right? Where's the bad news?-
-The company is a sponsor-
-Oh shit- Melissa closed the notebook instinctively as if this could help her listen to the conversation better –how serious is the situation?-
-Not too much, luckily-
-But?-
-But now Mercedes risks receiving less funding, we need to see how the team manages to provide for his replacement. We still gave away another sponsor to Red Bull, as if they didn't have enough money. Apparently, and I had no clue, they gave out quite a bit of money. Now we will have to pump up my image, that of Russell as much as possible. We'll have to sell ourselves, like pearls and diamonds.- he chuckled looking at the tablet screen. It was a bitter laugh but he wasn't too worried. Melissa stroked his arm and gave him a consoling smile.

Lewis returned a slightly bitter look. He didn't care about the damage he had caused himself but he had minimally foreseen such damage to his team. If he could have gone back in time, he wouldn't have hit that idiot. He would only threaten him, scare him... but he definitely wouldn't hit him... that much.
Melissa tried to console him -now think about tonight's qualifications- she smiled at him and took his hands.
-If I do well tonight you're mine tomorrow- he smiled at her.
-You have to score a podium tomorrow, what you do tonight will influence tomorrow's race but it certainly doesn't depend on what you do tonight- they laughed.
Melissa went around the table, gave him a kiss on the cheek and hugged him from behind -do you regret what you did?-
-Absolutely not, maybe I wouldn't have gone into it so hard but I don't regret it at all. I mean, did you see what a stunner I won-
Melissa laughed –am I a trophy?-
-Yes, nice and big. Nice big, definitely- he laughed in turn.
-Am I big?- she feigned amazement.
-You are not big. Your wonderful curves? Absolutely. They drive me crazy- he smiled, wrapping his arm around her hips.
-Ah so you're saying I'm big- she joked, putting her hands on her hips.
-Don't be silly- he laughed, shaking his head –you're wonderful. You and your huge curves-
-Ok, now stop it-
-Yes Madam! Otherwise tomorrow night you change your mind and my podium will be wasted-
-You still need stitches!-
-Yes, but I also already have 7 titles, I can afford half a staggering season- he said with conviction.
They kissed each other and then returned to their respective jobs. Melissa felt like she was living a dream.

She had called Amelie, her cousin, and vaguely explained the situation to her. She had told her "only" the gist of the matter, that is, that she had left Marco for that colleague she had told her about. She also told her that she felt like she was living in a book, of how from enemies they became "lovers", not completely yet but that was the point. Her cousin, who was not a soft-spoken person at all, had screamed into the phone with joy.
-Ok so give me the details, amore-
-As if I had told you little. You already know a lot!-
-Yes, c'mon those details-
-How can you...-
-We have always confided in each other!-
-Yes but...-
-But? But what? Did it suck that much? -
-It hasn't happened yet-
-How come? You were never a nun-
-I understand Amelie! It's just that there's a competition tomorrow and I would like... to be his trophy-
-Wait-
-I'll wait- Melissa joked.
-Are you joking?-
-No, I'm serious. I thought the trophy idea was nice-
-is he a driver?!-
Melissa took a moment – yes– she said in a low voice.
-How much longer did you want to hide it from me? Now I understand all that nonsense about the impossibility of a relationship! Oh my God!-
Melissa laughed –Do you understand now?-
-Yes, but in the end it's not as impossible as you told me!-
Melissa giggled.
-Be sure to have lots of children together!-
-I thought you were asking me his name-
-I know you wouldn't tell me-
-Thank you-
-I love you!-
-I love you too!-
