It took them two years to organize the wedding, between the actual preparation and the organization with their jobs. In the end they managed to get everything together, they would get married on Lake Como and, since they could afford it, a honeymoon of almost a month. Twenty days of actual vacation excluding travel days. They had chosen two destinations, the Caribbean and Greece, 10 days each destination.
Melissa had been able to take important breaks from work to organize the wedding and honeymoon but when she started to feel ill from the stress she had to ask Lewis to intervene and give her support. Objectively speaking he didn't have the same amount of time as she did but when he saw her vomiting from fatigue he put her to bed to rest for a couple of days. She recovered quickly even though she remained pale and tired.
Lewis had tried to convince her to go to a doctor but she had refused, given that many other times she had felt ill from stress. Not so much but she was too proud to admit it and then it was a much bigger commitment than her, it was normal for her immune system to respond like this.

Luckily Chiara and Amelie had intervened and a month before the wedding they had taken her to a doctor, she would never have stood up by herself that day and they had to do something. They knew she cared a lot and wanted to make sure everything went smoothly, they were also the bridesmaids and it was their job. They were all in Italy and Lewis would join them from Monaco as soon as possible.

The three women were shocked in front of the doctor.
-Did you know?- Amelie instinctively placed a hand on her back to support her.
-No-
-Did you have any suspicions?-
-No-
-But was there a probability?- Chiara turned towards her.
-Well...- Melissa reflected on the previous month, in which every time she needed to distract herself she found herself in the bed in her underwear, when she remembered it – yes. Let's say yes-
-Didn't you use the plaster?-
-Apparently it wasn't effective-
-How do you feel?-
-Now relieved, at least I know why I feel bad...-
-What is worrying you?-
-Do not enter the dress-
-Don't worry, you have now entered the second month and the wedding is in thirty days-
Melissa placed her hands on her belly and took deep breaths.
The doctor, with her tests in hand, looked at them without comment and said goodbye before they left.
Amelie put her hands in Melissa's bag and took away her cigarettes to remove the temptation -Why is the pack almost full?-
-In the last month the smell of smoke bothered me- she put her hands in her hair –and I didn't understand why!-
-Are you sure you're okay?-
-Yes! I'm thrilled, I was almost sorry not to have it sooner but with the wedding coming I don't really know how to behave-
-We'll help you, I don't think there's too much left to fix-
-No, in fact. Only some orders and reservations to be confirmed -
-Then we will help you- Chiara reiterated.
-Thank you- she hugged her friends and Amelie remained glued to her –Will you tell Lewis?-
-Of course, it's the father!- they laughed together -but I intend to do it in a particular way!-
