This hug broke my ribs but thanks, I needed it

That night Melissa had slept in the hotel with Lewis. He had lent her a t-shirt and tucked her in. After removing her make-up, he noticed that the marks on her face and body were actually much more evident than he thought.
They hadn't touched each other, or rather, they had touched each other but had only hugged each other. They had given each other a little kisses after saying goodnight and Melissa had collapsed using Lewis' arm as a pillow.
It was four in the morning and the light from the phone screen illuminated Lewis' tired face, making the piercing on his nose shine.
-everything okay?- Melissa moaned, moving slightly
-Yes- and he hugged her tighter
-Who is it at this time of the morning?-
-My lawyer-
-Will I go to prison?-
-No- he smiled –Marco won't report us because you could report him for physical violence, there are no problems in sight-
-And he sends you an email at five in the morning to tell you?-
-It's four o'clock, he worked all night and got in touch with that idiot's law firm- he ticked something with his thumb -I don't think there will even be a problem with the sponsor because now no team will want an investor who has taken a complaint for beating a woman-
Melissa had already collapsed, again. Lewis' warm voice had become home to her, it had changed so much that before him she wouldn't have been able to find a definition.
Lewis had been mumbling for a couple of minutes before he realized she had fallen back asleep, heard her snoring, and thought she was adorable.
Roscoe also seemed at ease with her and Lewis gave these things a lot of importance. He lay at their feet, exactly between them, with his belly in the air.
The dark-haired man continued to send emails and read PDFs from his lawyer, who reassured him. At a certain point, however, he too collapsed from tiredness.

During the night their bodies had sought each other and the next morning they had woken up tangled together, with their legs intertwined and locked in an embrace. The first thing Lewis saw was Melissa's half-closed mouth, her chest was making slow movements, her breathing was calm as she was sleeping soundly, and her eyes were closed but soft.
He smiled slightly and left her a few kisses.
Melissa made a few moaning noises and the Anglo-Caribbean chuckled.

-No- she said quietly
-Why can't I kiss you?-
-I haven't brushed my teeth yet-
-It doesn't bother me but if you feel embarrassed I can kiss your forehead-

Melissa smiled with her eyes still closed, like kittens do when they don't open their eyes for the first few weeks of life.
He kissed her forehead and caressed her hair, holding her even closer to him. The scent of her usual shampoo and body lotion were now home for him.
He heard the phone ring and had to answer, it was Toto.
-I didn't give you permission to give those interviews! Are you crazy?- the screams woke up Melissa but Lewis answered honestly -What are you talking about?-
