Chapter 8

We all went to our rooms, specifically the manager room for me. We planned something very fun—a night where we could get to know each other better. We were thinking about playing "truth or dare" or just talking. I was very excited but a little scared about the questions. I went to the bathroom to get ready for bed. I started with a shower as always, then brushed my teeth and changed into my pajamas. I wore short shorts and a shirt that exposed my midriff. It was so hot, I wouldn't survive with less revealing clothes. I went outside and started browsing Instagram on my phone. There were many stories from different people, including my team, mostly showing where they slept and our cafeteria.

I didn't notice someone approaching me until I bumped right into Kuroo's chest, feeling his muscles. I looked up and said, "I am so sorry, what are you doing here?"

He just laughed and answered, "Well, I was showering and getting ready for bed. I think you did the same. Your hair is still wet."

"Yeah, yours too." I was a little nervous and scratched my neck. He looked me deep in the eyes, and for a moment, I got lost in them. Time seemed to slow down. The beautiful moment ended when I heard Yaku and Lev whistle and say stupid things. Kuroo just looked at them and said, "Oh, just shut up," while laughing and looking at me.

"I think we should get going; it's very late," I said, not really wanting to leave. I hugged him, said goodbye, and wished him a good night. He did the same and left, looking back one more time. In front of the manager room, I couldn't help but smile.

In the room, we set out some drinks and snacks that we had brought from home. We three sat in a circle and started asking each other questions. It was so funny, and we all got to know each other better. It started to feel like a real friendship, but we all got tired after about an hour. My eyelids grew heavier with every minute, and I fell into my futon, just like the other two. It had never been that easy to fall asleep.

The morning sun was shining on my face and my futon when I woke up. It was nearly 6 am, the perfect time to wake up. I stood up and woke the other two. When they were awake, we went to the rooms of the teams to wake them up. I woke Nekoma, Yachi woke Fukurodani, and Kiyoko woke her team and the rest. As I walked into the Nekoma room, I woke Kuroo so he could wake his team instead of me, mainly because I had to get ready and make breakfast. As I approached him, he was lying in his usual sleep position—head between two pillows. It looked kind of funny yet cute. I kneeled down next to him and tried to shake him awake. That didn't work at first, so I tried whisper-yelling his name. This didn't work either, so I tried combining both. He started to stir and sat up, clearly not fully awake. I told him he had to wake his team, and he just mumbled "yes" and stood up. I left the room to get ready and freshen up.

Afterwards, I went to the cafeteria to make breakfast. We made eggs with some vegetables and bacon. When it was ready, we served it to the teams, and we all ate. It was very delicious—I did a great job, as always. I chatted with my teammates and asked about last night. They said they played games like we did and wanted to ask the managers and other teams to play again tonight. I agreed and made sure they knew I would come.

At practice, I watched our team play against Fukurodani. They were pretty good. I noticed how Kuroo was staring and smiling at me again. I really do like him more than just a friend—I would even say as a crush or someone I would like to end up with. We won the games today, and it was quite funny seeing how Bokuto's mood changed instantly. His mood swings are really bad.

Practice didn't took long and it was time for dinner.
