everybody wants to rule the world --- tears for fears

[POV]

Justin was dead, and the saviors immediately began to blame the other workers.

"Guess they're gonna execute every last one of us!" Jed riled up the crowd. "Just like Justin."

"Not if we have guns!" Another added.

Arguing quickly became pushing and shoving each other around, which led to multiple fist fights breaking out amongst the crowd.

JJ and Daryl were in the med tent checking in on Aaron, since Rick had gone back to Alexandria.

"The hell's going on out there?" JJ asked, referring to the commotion they were hearing outside.

"Don't know." Daryl said, standing up and slinging his crossbow over his shoulder. "Come on."

The two rushed out to find the crowd split, tension thick in the air. Angry shouts filled the space, aggression pouring in from both sides. Carol stood in the middle of them all- ready, her hand on her gun, prepared to draw if needed. Every muscle in her body was tense, bracing for the situation to explode.

"We don't want this." Laura attempted to keep the peace between the two groups, quietly telling Carol, "Hey, we just need to protect ourselves."

Daryl stood on the steep hill overlooking the crowd, leaning against the tree. "No guns," he stated.

"That cause you're the one who took out Justin?" DJ shouted back.

Another of the saviors from the crowd glared, shifting his vision, "Nah, my money's on garbage lady."

"Revenge for Simon's play, sure."

DJ kept his eyes locked on Daryl, assuring the crowd, "No. It's him... finishing what he started." He strode angrily to grab one of the axes leaned up against the tree. Jed followed his lead.

"Hey, stop." Arat stepped in front of him, "It's gonna go too far."

"Nah. It won't." Daryl tauntingly assured.

JJ huffed, keeping her gun by her side, but agreeing with Arat- she didn't want this to go any farther.

"Daryl." The blonde warned in a low voice without moving her head, careful to not let the others hear.

DJ eyed the two on top of the hill, "Maybe it was the both of them." He motioned for the other saviors who had picked up tools for weapons to follow, "Come on."

As the groups neared each other threateningly, Rick tore through them on the back of his horse.

"Everyone back off! Right now!" He demanded.

"All right, we are not doing this." Laura stepped in front of the saviors again, calming them down as Arat snatched the ax from DJ's hands.

Alden, who was across them on the other side of the divide also stepped in, "I'll go talk to Rick. I'll try and find a way to make everybody feel safe, all right?"

Jed looked menacingly to Alden and the others, shaking his head as he finally backed off.

"Start the redirect. Pair off to work the grid." Rick told them, sternly.

Once the mayhem was deviated, Daryl scoffed in aggravation

"Daryl," JJ attempted as Daryl went off on his own, but she quickly realized it was a lost cause. She pressed her hand tightly against her forehead, trying to keep calm.
