The next day, between his classes, Jungkook approached the sports director to talk about Taehyung using the tracks at the facilities. The director looked up Taehyung's records and, seeing his impressive history, agreed gladly. "If Taehyung is interested, he can compete for the school. We'll issue him a badge so he can use the gym whenever he wants," the director said.
Jungkook left the school feeling very satisfied. He went straight to the convenience store where Taehyung works to deliver the good news.
When Jungkook walked into, the bell above the door rang, catching Taehyung's attention. Seeing his friend, Taehyung broke into a huge smile. "Hey, Kook! What brings you here?"
"Hey! I've got some great news for you," Jungkook said, walking over to the counter.
"Oh? What is it?"
"I talked to the sports director at school today, he checked your records and was really impressed. You can use the tracks and the sports center whenever you want. They're even issuing you a badge."
Taehyung's eyes widened with excitement. "Really? That's amazing, Kook! Thank you so much!"
"No problem at all," Jungkook said, waving off the gratitude. "You deserve it. Besides, I like having you around. Keeps things fun."
"Yeah, because you need someone to keep you in check."
"The other way around," Jungkook teased. "And hey, the director even mentioned you could compete for our school if you're interested."
"Compete? That sounds awesome," Taehyung said, his smile widening. "I'd love to!"
"I knew you'd be excited," Jungkook said, leaning on the counter. "So, when are you starting? Can't wait to see you in action. Imagine how far you'll go training in a proper track!"
"I'll probably check it out tomorrow before work, I owe you big time, Kook."
"Oh, you do. Maybe you can start by giving tips to improve my speed. I won't survive if I lose a race to you again."
"Deal," Taehyung agreed, smiling. "But only if you promise not to complain when I leave you in the dust."
"We'll see about that. If I had your legs I'd be the new Usain Bolt, easily."
Taehyung rolled his eyes, "Yeah, yeah. Yesterday your bulky ass suffered to keep up with my pace." Just then, a customer entered the store, and Taehyung turned his attention to them. "Looks like I've got to get back to work," he said, giving Jungkook an apologetic look.
"No worries. We'll catch up later," Jungkook said, stepping back. "Text me, and we can plan something soon."
"Will do," Taehyung replied, giving him a quick wink before turning to help the customer.
Jungkook left the store with a smile on his face, feeling good about the day. As he walked home, he couldn't help but think about how much things had changed since Taehyung came back into his life. He really missed his best friend.

Late that night, Taehyung finally arrived home from work, his mind still buzzing with thoughts of the day and, more importantly, of Jungkook. With a sigh, he pulled out his phone and sent a message to Jungkook.
Me:
Hey, what time are you going to be at the gym tomorrow? The reply came almost instantly.
Kook:
Hey! I'll be there around 3 PM, finishing my jiu-jitsu practice. Why?Me:
Perfect. I'll meet you there. I'd like to check the place out.
