Taehyung said goodbye to his coworker and went to the back of the store. There, he opened his locker, put away his apron and badge, and grabbed his keys and wallet. He spun the keys around his finger and headed to the back door, which led to the alley where his bike was locked up.
Once outside, he unlocked his bike and mounted it, only to notice that one of his tires was flat. Great. He let out a deep sigh and dismounted, crouching to inspect the tire.
"Kim Taehyung..."
The voice was so low, almost a whisper, that Taehyung thought it might just be the wind or his imagination. He looked around and saw Mingyu slowly walking toward him.
"Got a flat?"
Taehyung snorted and looked back at his bike tire, which wasn't just flat but had a huge tear. In both tires. "Looks like you got me a flat."
He heard the sound of a blade snapping shut and looked back at Mingyu, seeing him flash a pocketknife for a few seconds before slipping it into his pocket. "Me? You've got to stop going around saying things about me."
Taehyung was out of patience for Mingyu's games—he didn't find him intimidating. He stood up and glared at Mingyu. "Just say what you want and get out of my way."
"You told Jungkook about what happened," Mingyu took a few more steps, now only inches away from Taehyung, "After I clearly warned you to keep your mouth shut."
Taehyung scoffed. "You're the one who couldn't shut up about me. I never mentioned your name to Jungkook until yesterday when, once again, you were talking crap about me to him. So, that's on you."
Mingyu tried to grab Taehyung's face, but Taehyung slapped his hand away. "I only asked you to do three things: stay away from Jungkook, don't show up at school again, and keep quiet about what happened. You failed all three," Mingyu scoffed in turn, "it's like you're asking for this, isn't it?"
Something behind Mingyu caught Taehyung's attention, and he glanced over to see Jaehyun entering the alley with long strides and a grin as he approached. He reached them quickly, stepping past Mingyu and grabbing Taehyung by the collar, and shoving him against the brick wall. Taehyung gripped Jaehyun's wrist, trying to break free from his hold. "Hey, femboy! So you've been talking shit about Mingyu? That's not good at all."
"I haven't lied. If you're really his friend, you'd notice he's just as gay as I am." Hearing this, Mingyu lunged toward Taehyung, but Jaehyun stopped him, casting another look at Taehyung. "I'm his friend, which is why I know he'd never put his dick in a little fag like you."
Taehyung couldn't hold back a laugh or the words that came out. "I agree with you. He's more the type to take it right in his ass."
Jaehyun couldn't stop Mingyu this time. Mingyu landed a punch straight to Taehyung's face, slamming his head back against the wall with the force of the blow. He was ready to land another hit when Jaehyun pulled him back, placing a hand on his chest.
"Hey, man! Chill! That wasn't the plan. We're not messing up his face, remember?"
While the two argued about the beating they had planned, Taehyung was dazed, struggling to regain his senses. He had trouble seeing out of his left eye and quickly realized that the punch had landed squarely there. He could already imagine shades of blue and purple forming.
His thoughts were interrupted when Jaehyun pulled him away from the wall, bringing him close and locking him in an chokehold. "Go ahead. Hit him in the right places, man. He's all yours."
Taehyung gritted his teeth, looking up to meet Mingyu's enraged gaze, which, under the dim alley light, made him look like a beast. Then a punch landed on his stomach. He tried to double over, but Jaehyun's arm tightened around his neck, holding him in place. His hands clawed at Jaehyun's arm, only to receive a knee to his lower back. "Stay still, and it'll be over soon."
