Two weeks later and it was the start of school days after the mid-year break. Jungkook was a good student but easily distracted during classes, especially in subjects like math. Thanks to the extra lessons Taehee gave him during the vacation, he felt prepared for his final semester of high school.

Speaking of Taehee, when she showed up at Jungkook's house midweek for one of their classes, she had a new look: blue highlights at the ends of her long dark hair, and it suited her well. Taehee had really grown into a beautiful young woman, which wasn't surprising given that she was Jungkook's first crush.

"I like your hair, but given your princess-like personality, I thought you'd go for pink, not blue."

Taehee looked up from the notebook where she was correcting Jungkook's exercises and stared at him, "Princess my ass. I did it to support my brother, but I ended up liking it!"

Jungkook furrowed his brows, "support him? In what?" Taehee widened her eyes and tried to play it off, "uh... nothing, I meant tease." Jungkook found it odd but decided not to question further. "By the way, I haven't seen him since he came back home. Is he still there?"

Taehee still seemed uncomfortable, and Jungkook noticed, "y-yes, he's still there. He caught a bad cold the day after he arrived and hasn't left the house much... but he's better now. He got a job and today he went out to train."

"Oh. What does he train for?"

"Did you forget? He runs on race tracks and marathons. And he's really good." Taehee smiled as she talked about her brother but quickly saw that Jungkook was getting distracted. "If you want to know about him, ask him yourself. Now focus and redo the exercises I marked down," she handed the notebook back to Jungkook, who grumbled as he erased the math problems and started over.

Later that same day, Jungkook was lying exhausted on the mat at his school's sports center. The boy had almost daily training sessions, sometimes right after classes, sometimes in the late afternoon, like today. Jungkook trained hard for interschool and state competitions and to secure a scholarship to a good college.

While catching his breath, he heard his phone buzzing on the nearby bench and crawled over to get it. It was a message from his dad, informing him that he would be away for the weekend again. Jungkook felt sympathy for his old man, who had been working double shifts to ensure a comfortable life for both of them. Jungkook had offered to get a job to help with the bills, but his father preferred that he focus on his studies and jiu-jitsu training, saying that their efforts would pay off in the future. So Jungkook did his part, giving his best to ensure his father could rest in the future.

He replied to the message, wishing him a good trip and assuring him he would take care. Then he opened his chat with Yunseo.

Me:
Hey, I'm home alone tonight, want to see my cat?

Jungkook smiled to himself as he got up from the floor, grabbing his things and heading to the locker room for a quick shower and change. Along the way, he greeted his training friends and teammates, exchanging quick friendly insults and handshakes. Before grabbing his shower items from his locker, he checked his phone again.

Yunseo:
Sure, I miss him! See you at 8 PM.

Jungkook bit his lip and started mentally planning what to prepare for their date later. It wouldn't be the first time Yunseo came over to his place, but it had been a few weeks since the last time. He grabbed his towel and soap and headed to the locker room showers.

Clean and smelling good, Jungkook got on his bike and pedaled his way home. It was already six in the evening, and the sky was starting to darken. He decided to stop at the convenience store on the way to buy a few things for the date, locking his bike to a pole outside before entering and grabbing a basket at the entrance.
