"You made me erase an entire page of correct calculations, I can't believe it, Taehee!"
"Sorry, but it's good for you to practice more... stop complaining!"
Jungkook threw his pencil onto the table in frustration and received a light tap on his hand for his tantrum. "Hey, don't be a brat!"
"I'm done, please... have mercy. We've been studying for over two hours..."
Taehee, who could also use a break, nodded. "Okay... you seem much better at math anyway." She glanced at her phone quickly. "I'm heading home to wait for Tae. He's on his way."
"On his way from where?"
"He didn't tell you? Well, he got an email from Seoul University. There's a university convention downtown, and he's participating in a selection event. He's been training hard all week for it."
It had been a little over a week since the two friends started kissing regularly, and they had fully committed to it. Some days, Jungkook would head to the sports center earlier to meet Taehyung, and after his training, they would make out in the locker room. Other times, Taehyung would sneak into Jungkook's room late at night, and vice versa.
Neither of them could get enough of each other's lips. Even though their first kiss had escalated into something much hotter very quickly, their other encounters had been slower, limited to a lot of kissing and a few wandering hands, but nothing as intense as the first time.
It could be said that they didn't talk much during these brief encounters, jumping straight to what they both wanted. So, Taehyung hadn't mentioned anything about this selection event to Jungkook. Jungkook tried not to take it personally, but he pouted nonetheless. "He didn't tell me anything... hey, text him and tell him to come over here. I want to know about it too. What kind of best friend doesn't tell me something this important?"
Taehee laughed and grabbed her phone, sending a text for Taehyung to meet them at Jungkook's house. "Alright, while he's not here, redo that last calculation you erased. I swear, it's the last one!" Jungkook took a deep breath, grabbed the pencil, and started over.
Almost half an hour later, the doorbell rang, and Jungkook rushed to answer it. Taehyung stood there in all his glory, dressed in sportswear and a cap, a huge smile on his face. "Hey, Kook!"
"Hey Kook my ass," Jungkook said, pulling him inside by the arm and dragging him into the living room where Taehee was sitting. "How come you didn't tell me about this selection event? How'd it go?"
Taehyung laughed, dropping his bag on the floor and ruffling his sister's hair as she sat on the couch. "Sorry, I didn't want to say anything because if I did badly, no one would need to know about my failure."
Jungkook almost smacked him on the back of the head but stopped when he saw Taehyung's bright smile, which meant he hadn't done badly at all. "Come on, spill it, Tae!" Taehee, even more impatient than Jungkook, urged her brother.
"It was great! I mean, it's just the first phase, but I qualified for the next selection. Not only was Seoul University interested, but other good universities too, including Daegu and Busan."
Jungkook's eyes widened as Taehyung casually dropped the news. "Wait, you got offers from multiple universities?"
"Yeah," Taehyung nodded, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. "Not exactly offers but they're interested... I didn't want to get anyone's hopes up, but it went better than I expected."
Taehee stood up and hugged her brother, her face beaming with pride. "That's amazing, Tae! I knew you could do it," she said, squeezing him tightly. "You've been working so hard for this."
