After six months

Avyukta

I stand in front of the mirror as my dear bhabhi plants the safa on my head, then Suyash bhaiya rests the necklace made with different pretty stones around my neck and pats my shoulders.

Maa with teary eyes puts kala teeka and papa blesses me with happiness in his eyes as he says "I didn't realise when my sons grew up."

We do a family hug and then head out. Natasha is waiting for me outside with Ritvik, thanks to God he came after a lot of pestering from Rahul.

I wonder what Rahul must be doing, maybe I'm slightly jealous of him that he'd get to see my bride before me. Radhika said that she'll need Rahul by her side to escort her and he stayed with her.

As my wedding procession reaches the garden I hop onto the ground and then do the necessary rituals as the priest asks me to do.

After that it's finally the time to put garland around her neck. The mere thought of her getting dressed for me sends shivers down my spine.

She walks towards my direction after the priest announces to call the bride. She's walking under the flower bed which is held up in the air by Rahul, Ritvik, Arjun Bhaiya and Suyash Bhaiya.

I don't even know when my traitor brother changed the sides, but it's fine if it's for her.

She's dolled up in a red lehenga which is beautifully decorated by white stones and her hair is tied in a bun which has red roses woven into it, her makeup is light which highlights her natural features and the smile that rests on her lips indicates how happy she is.

She once told me about spiritual release, that how tears start flowing out of her doe eyes on their own when she visit temples and chant aartis, I never experienced it because my definition of God was always different.

Now as she is coming closer to me, my heart beats faster than ever before, goosebumps cover my skin and I feel drops of water escaping my eyes.

I knew this would happen because the sight of her dressed in a wedding dress coming towards me was no less than a site of a goddess beautiful than anyone walking on the path that meets with the one her worshipers stand on. Her aura spreads into the air and for a moment I think there's no one except us. I feel like time has frozen.

There's just us. Us. Her and me.

I take her hand to help get on the stage and twirl her to see her outfit, her hair and to sniff her intoxicating cocoa vanilla fragrance. There's one thing that catches my eye, her odhani has something written on the borders of it. At first I didn't understand because the words are in extremely beautiful calligraphy and that too in Hindi. But then my heart swells when I read the words; Avyukta ki dulhaniya. She's getting a reward for this efforts afterwards.

I belong to Brahmin family and that comes with everything happening on time with correct mahuratas and right mantras chanted by priest. He announces that it's the time for varmala ceremony.

Priti bhabhi and Natasha hands us the garlands and the priest starts chanting the mantra. I catch a glance of grinning Jiya, who is happily holding Radhika's bag as a proud bridesmaid.

According to Hindu Shastras, the bride is the first to put the varmala, so I gladly bow my head down for her to put in the garland.

It was now my turn to put the flowery thing around her neck. But I wasn't going to make it so easy for her.

" No wayyyy, Avyuktaa." She gasps and shakes her head when I point on my cheek and ask her to kiss me there with a non audible voice.

" Yess way, honey. "
