"Please." You spoke while holding both of Thot's hands in your owns.

The deity seemed uncomfortable, and it was easily displayed from the way sweat was sticking to the back of his neck.

"It's against the law." He said while yanking his hands back while you let both of yours raise to your chin.

"I need to know." You nearly felt yourself stutter before raising your head to speak again. "I fear for my son's safety." You said and he went quiet.

A laugh echoed in the room before you heard the sound of jewelry and footsteps echo your way.

Ra, the sun's god stopped when she was close enough to reach you and set both hands on your shoulders while standing near.

"Stop this [Name]~" she said with a suggestive playful tone while looking over at the god of knowledge and wisdom.

You were caught off guard, looking over your shoulder while feeling your heart rate increase in your chest.

"It's embarrassing." She continued with the same tone sounding as if she didn't mind her own words. "We don't want you humiliating yourself in front of the gods isn't that right~" she said, her cheek coming to rest against your own while you couldn't just let out a defeated sigh.

You couldn't. You were ready to humiliate yourself as many times as needed if it meant to know of any upcoming danger coming your son's way.

Maybe the destruction god's words had succeeded at tempting you after all, look how far you've came because of mere words.

"You're lying." You simply told Thot who was taken aback by your accusations.

The sun's god hummed and you spoke again. "It's not against the law." You spoke. "I felt it. You lied to me."
You couldn't bring yourself to ask why, and so you simply raised your tone despite it coming out shakier than you've anticipated.

Was it because you weren't a god ? Was it because you were an immortal "human".

Thot wanted to speak, looking over at Ra who looked suddenly entertained.

"Then shall we make it a rule~" she said while speaking right against your ear. "What a shame you've came all the way here." Ra let go of you while shrugging with fake regret.

"Tell me, would I be lying if I said.." she continued to stand in front of you. Her taller figure looking down at you while she crossed her arms delighted. "Hmmm." She didn't seem to come up with something and simply let her smile grow while dismissing you with a hand gesture.

You looked over at Maat who was quiet the entire time before she proceeded to forward and spoke with a voice devoid of any emotion.

"It is against the rules for a non-god to ask for such knowledge." She simply said. The god of law was not insulting you, you knew well of her morally grey motives and how she respected the rules set by the sun's god.

You could still see Ra smiling from her throne while Thot hid behind his fiancée who had her arms crossed while looking down at you.

After a brief moment you lowered your head, bowing to excuse yourself with a hand over your chest.

They watched you leave and exit the temple, only for another presence to appear from behind one of the pillars once you were far out of sight.

Thot palled while Maat's gaze hardened at the new arrival.

"Mother." He greeted and Ra's smile grew when seeing her favored son, second after Hathor.

Asenath looked displeased, looking at all three gods. Why would you beg those fools instead of him.

"Look who came to defend the name of his beloved." Ra said while leaning her head to rest on her palm. "Go on son. Speak~"

"If there is one thing I've learned," he said while walking past Thot and Maat not sparing them a glance. "Is that fate is an inevitable thing."

You returned to the temple, no servant seemed to be in your surroundings as you made your way to your chamber.

All you wanted was to sleep despite the guilt of needing it.

You set a hand over the handle and when you did various whispers started reaching you.

You paid no mind to them, until one of them mentioning the name of your son.

You stopped what you were doing, taking a careful step back and deciding to go check over him before giving any rest to your mind.

You pushed the door making sure to not make much noise that could possibly wake him.

The room was colder than usual and hit by sudden worry you approached his bed to make sure he was well covered.

"Kemet.." you whispered to yourself when seeing slight tears in his eyes.

You moved a hand to wipe them away of his cheek while assuming that he was having an unpleasant dream.

But the moment your hand touched his cheek you realized how cold he was.

The flower resting on the nightstand next of the side of the bed you were sitting near was now nothing but a dead flower.

You decided to take it, rid him of the ugliness of death he might question when he awakes.

Yet you found yourself staring at it, there was something that stuck against one of the dried petals. With a careful finger you brushed it away only for it to from a dark red spot over the skin of your index.

Blood.

You looked over at Kemet once more, your eyesight not allowing you to see any better in the dark as his face was now more clear by the moon's light emitting from the open window.

The flower was dead, and so was your son.

You felt a kiss, a tender yet cold sensation on your neck that was set from the man standing behind you.

"You and I beloved."
