CHAPTER 1

I miss you I'm sorry

"Nothin' happened in the way I wanted
Every corner of this house is haunted
And I know you said that we're not talkin'
But I miss you, I'm sorry"

Renee Russel sat in the dressing room backstage at "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," the hum of activity around her a comforting buzz. Her glam team worked meticulously—curling her hair into loose waves, applying the perfect shade of lipstick, and ensuring her outfit was flawless. She looked at herself in the mirror, taking a deep breath. Tonight was a big night. Her debut album "How Did It End" was the topic of conversation everywhere, and this interview was her chance to connect with her audience on a deeper level.

Her best friend Olivia Rodrigo sent her an encouraging text just as the show's producer knocked on the door. "Renee, we're ready for you in five minutes."

Renee smiled at her reflection one last time, her nerves giving way to excitement. She stood up, straightened her dress, and walked towards the stage.

As the familiar theme music played, Jimmy Fallon introduced her with his signature enthusiasm. "Ladies and gentlemen, our next guest is an incredibly talented singer-songwriter whose debut album 'How Did It End' is eagerly anticipated. Please welcome Renee Russel!"

The audience erupted in applause as Renee stepped onto the stage, her smile bright and genuine. She waved to the crowd before taking a seat next to Jimmy's desk.

"Renee, welcome to the show!" Jimmy exclaimed, beaming.

"Thanks, Jimmy! It's so great to be here," Renee replied, settling into her chair.

Jimmy leaned forward, eyes twinkling with curiosity. "Alright, let's get into it. First question—your debut album 'How Did It End' is generating a lot of buzz. What inspired you to create this album?"

Renee took a moment, her expression turning thoughtful. "Well, Jimmy, the album is really a reflection of the last few years of my life. I went through a lot of emotional highs and lows, and writing these songs was my way of processing everything and turning it into something beautiful."

Jimmy nodded, clearly moved. "That sounds really deep. Can you give us a sneak peek into what kind of songs we can expect on the album?"

Renee smiled. "Sure! The album includes a mix of introspective ballads and more upbeat tracks. Each song tells a part of my story, dealing with themes of love, heartbreak, and personal growth. It's very raw and honest."
