...Anyway Hedwig, brought Harry another note from Hagrid. Which only had two words written on it: It's hatching.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ron and Layla wanted to leave immediately and go straight to Hagrid's hut.
"We have to skip class to go see this," said Layla
"Not happening," said Hermione
"Hermione, how many times in our lives are we going to see a dragon hatching?" said Ron
"We've got lessons, we'll get into trouble, and that's nothing compared to what Hagrid will face if someone finds out what he's -"
"Shut up?" Harry whispered.
Malfoy was only a few feet away and he had stopped listening to their conversation. Percy didn't like that look on his face at all.
"Oi, Draco," Layla called "Get over here."
"Um you know what Crabbe and Goyal need me," said Draco rushing off
"How much do you think he heard?" Percy asked
"Hopefully not too much," Harry said
Ron and Hermione argued all the way to class in the end Hermione agreed with the group that they would run down to Hagrid's during the morning break.
When the bell sounded from the castle, the five of them ran through the grounds to the edge of the forest. Hagrid greeted them, looking flushed and excited.
"It's nearly out." He ushered them inside
The egg was lying on the table, with big cracks in it. Something was moving inside; a funny clicking noise was coming from it.
"Percy, get your wand out," Hermione ordered
"Why?"
Hermione shook her head "For the water. Duh."
"Oh, yeah," said Percy taking out his wand he still wasn't completely used to the fact that he couldn't normally use his powers.
All at once there was a scraping noise and the egg split open. The baby dragon flopped onto the table. It was an ugly sight, it looked like a black, slimy, crumpled up umbrella. Its wings were huge compared to its frame. Its horn's stubs looked like Gover's horns when Percy first saw him, though Grover didn't have orange eyes.
It sneezed. A couple of sparks flew out of its snout.
"Isn't he beautiful? Hagrid said. He reached to pet the dragon's head. It snapped at his hand trying to bite him.
"Bless him, look, he knows his mommy!" said Hagrid
"Hagrid," said Hermione, "how fast do Norwegian Ridgebacks grow, exactly?"
Hagrid was about to answer when Percy saw someone looking through the window.
"Malfoy!" he shouted
The color of Hagrid's face suddenly drained he leaped up shaking the whole hut and ran to the door. They looked out the door and even at a distance, there was no mistaking it, Malfoy had seen the dragon.
"Hagrid, what are you going to do?" asked Harry "Malfoy's going to tell someone what he saw."
"Dunno Harry," Hagrid said worried "Maybe Dumbledore will let me keep him."
"If he wants to get fired then yeah he'll let you keep it," said Ron
Hagrid sat back down looking at the baby dragon "Norbert,"
"What did you say,"
Norbert, that's his name," he said looking at the dragon with misty eyes. "Look at he knows who his mommy is,"
"He's lost his marbles," whispered Layla
"You could put him in the forest," Percy suggested
Hagrid looked at Percy "I can't. He's too little. He'd die."
"And the fact that he would burn the whole forest down," Hermione said
"Ok, then what?" asked Percy "He can't stay here."
Harry suddenly turned to Ron.
"Charlie," he said
"You're losing it too," said Ron "I'm Ron, remember?"
"No - your brother, Charlie. The one on Romaina studying dragons. We could send Norbert to him. Charlie can take care of him and then put him back in the wild."
"Brilliant!" said Ron "How about it, Hagrid?"
And in the end, Hagrid agreed that they could send an owl to Charlie to ask him.
Over the next week, the smile lurking on Malfoy's face made them very nervous. They spent most of their free time in Hagrid's hut. Norbert had grown three times in length in that week. Smoke kept furling out of his nostrils and Percy was always on watch ever since the incident, where Norbert sent the chickens on fire. Percy had to dunk the hut in water or they might not be a house for Hagrid.
Percy was coming back from Hagrid's by himself when a small, floating, shiny orb of water glowed in the middle of the hallway. Curious he walked over and poked the ball of water. It disappeared, but a new one formed down the hall. He went forward poking it again, a new one came further down the hall. He did it again and again and again and again till he was deep in the dark castle in front of a wooden door.
Slowly, he pushed open the door, not making a sound. Cautiously he stepped in. It was an empty room except for a desk in the middle with a reading light on it.
He pulled out the chair and sat down on the desk was a letter with his name written on it. In Annabeth's handwriting. Why would she do all this just to get him this letter?
He opened it up on reading it:
Percy, your mom went into labor earlier today. I tried everything to get you back for the birth. But Hecate wouldn't allow it. Sally had a perfect delivery, Paul and I stayed with her the whole, and even your dad came to see her, Sally really missed you. I added a picture of the baby in the envelope, she's so tiny and perfect Percy. I could hold her forever, made me want one of my own, later on of course.
Percy could feel his eyes watering up. He couldn't believe he missed his baby sister's birth. He looked in the envelope and took out a glossy picture.
His mother was looking down at a small baby all wrapped up in blankets. In the bottom right corner wrote Estelle Blofis with today's date and the time she was born.
Estelle what a perfect name he thought
"I love you 3000," he said
He marveled at his baby sister, his little star.
