25 - The Dragon Island

The ships were tied up at the dock and some men were ordered to stay with the ships since we were in unknown territory.  I thought it best to leave Amethyst back so we weren't creating instant fear thinking we were trying to control their army.  Our boots kicked up sand and some mud stuck to them. The buildings were medium sized huts surrounding us.  Moving my gaze forward I saw a large platform up on a hill that was clearly for the dragons. "Mommy!" Luciya cried, pointing up to the sky with a dragon dives down directly in our direction.

"Dragon duck, duck!" Jaime pushed the kids down to their knees while I ducked my head sucking in a sharp breath watching the dragon land directly in front of us once the sturred up dust had cleared from the area.

I saw someone crawling down from the dragon wing, the man had the familiar silver hair and dark black skin that resembled someone similar to House Velaryon from what I could remember. "Who are you, dragon rider?" Jaime pushed me and the kids behind him, hand on his sword handle.

"I am Aurane Waters.  Who are you two foreigners that are docked on our shores?" The man declared with a stern voice.

Raising a brow I recalled the hours of lessons I learned, needing to know all the great Houses that we served in the Seven Kingdoms. "Waters, that means you're the bastard of House Velaryon."

"Yes I am.  But that still doesn't answer my question." The bastard responded and I had to watch myself from saying he looked like my brother Rhaegar even with his narrow face and no purple eyes.

Jaime cleared his throat nervously rubbing the back of his neck when he introduced himself. "I'm Jaime Lannister of Casterly Rock. This is my wife and our kids Luycia and Rhaegar."

"What's your name, Lady Lannister?" The bastard asked, glaring at me with those gray-green eyes.

Stepping around my family, Jaime reached out for my hand but I pushed it down needing to do this on my own. "I am Vaella Lannister, formerly of House Targaryen.  The daughter of Aerys the second and Rhaella Targaryen.  Lord Waters, we don't mean any harm-"

"My Queen." He suddenly bent down on a knee right in front of me.

A few more men who were walking around stopped coming over to where he was on the ground bending a knee before me where I just stood in shock. "My Queen."

"Mommy, what's happening?" Rhaegar tugged my sleeve.

"I don't know, baby."

Footsteps broke through the crowd of people for me to see quite a few older men walking up to us. "What is happening, my Targaryen queen is we're coming to pledge our allegiance to you." I hung my mouth open recognizing the house sigils on every single Lord before me.  House Quherys of Harrenhal was the man who had spoken and the first to bend his knee then House Macklyn followed , House Barlaeries or Balaerys as they liked to be called and finally House all before me and not dead like we were told after the Doom of Valyria.

Jaime tugged me backwards by the forearm. "Lī lenton istan pryjatan weren't pōnta. Nyke'd vestragon īlon should sagon biare bona pōnta ȳdra daor vestragon naejot jaelagon naejot ossēnagon īlva. - Those houses were destroyed weren't they. I'd say we should be happy that they don't seem to want to kill us."

"Se histories vestretan pōnta istan ry ossēntan isse se vējes hen valyrio. Nyke - nyke dōrī would emagon imagined bona bisa iksos skoros īlon would find skori īlon māzigon kesīr. - The histories said they were all killed in the Doom of Valyria.  I - I never would have imagined that this is what we would find when we came here."

He raised his right golden hand slightly away from his side. "Sīr skoros gaomagon ao jaelagon naejot gaomagon. Nyke nūmāzma pōnta're bending pōja knees se swearing naejot ao. - So what do you want to do?  I mean they're bending their knees and swearing to you."

"īlon kostagon't - nyke jaelagon naejot umbagon kesīr, jaime. Nyke sepār don't gīmigon skoros naejot ivestragon vali swearing pōja korzoti naejot issa. Issa muñar dōrī taught issa bona ao gīmigon. - We can't - I want to stay here, Jaime.  I just don't know what to say to men swearing their swords to me.  My parents never taught me that, you know." Running my fingers through my hair with my freehand I felt nerves building up in my stomach never thinking this would happen after my father was removed from the throne.

"Hen skoros nyke remember hen issa boring āeksio lessons hae nykeā riñnykeā ao should thank zirȳ isse mirri fashion. īlon'll explain everything istin bona part iksos ry settled se gaomagon. - From what I remember from my boring lord lessons as a child you should thank them in some fashion.  We'll explain everything once that part is all settled and done."

Nodding my head in agreement I squeezed his hand gently. "Ao're probably paktot. Ivestragī's ūndegon skorkydoso bisa goes. - You're probably right.  Let's see how this goes...My lords, I must confess I am uncertain of what is the proper way to address you in a situation like this.  But I do appreciate your loyalty even if House Targaryen is no longer the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms. I shall always appreciate the support you give me out here."

"Why isn't House Targaryen ruling?" The current Lord Macklyn was the first to speak up.

Jaime lowered his gaze to his sword, choosing his words carefully. "The Targaryens were dethroned by House Baratheon. He was killed by one of his kingsguard when he wished to burn the entire city until nothing was left." He refused to be called Kingslayer in this corner of the world.

Moving my hands in front of my chest there was one thing that was on my mind even though I knew we each had a billion questions for the other party we were speaking with at that moment. "My lords, I must know one answer from you now.  How did your houses survive?  We were told all the founding houses of Valyria were wiped out."

Lord Barlaeries responded to me. "Before the battle all the young mothers and babies were shipped off with the baby dragon eggs to this corner of the world.   We've all grown up still believing the Targaryens were on the throne or just assumed they had been wiped out."

"Then we have quite a few things to talk about." Jaime looped my hand through his with our kids standing behind us, finding this island of Dragons and try to do our best to make it our home.

The Valtigar houseman met my purple eyes with a serious expression on his face. "Vaella Lannister, we pledge our loyalty to you.  Now and always." Hanging my mouth open slightly I gripped my husband's hand tightly hoping we hadn't just started a war.  If my sister found out about this, war between dragons may come to Westeros another time 500 years later in our lifetime.
