Better days (JJxOC)

Midnight snack

„Suits you. The ring," Emily told my girl while holding her hand and examining it.

„Thanks," JJ smiled, „I think it does too."

„I've always pictured you as the one to like shiny things," Emily said letting go of her hand.

Finally, may I add. It took to long for my liking.

„I like shiny things," JJ agreed and looked at me, „But I'd marry you with paper rings."

I smiled and kissed her while Emily rolled her eyes and turned her head to the tv. She cleared her throat to make us do it too.

„This doesn't look comfortable," Emily said tilting her head to the side.

We were watching some stupid reality tv show to clear our heads after our last case. Emily chose it so we all knew it was gonna be unhinged.

„Trust me, it's not," I said squinting my eyes.

„Maya!" Jennifer exclaimed hitting me with a pillow.

„What? It's not like she doesn't know we do that stuff. You're pregnant you know?" I told her giving her the pillow back knowing she'd whine about it the next minute.

Emily chuckled, „You do realize you're not the one who got her pregnant?"

„You do realize that you can just shut up?" I asked mocking her tone.

„You both could do that, I'm trying to focus here," my girlfriend said stuffing her mouth with cheetos.

„Wait, so what are you now?" Emily asked, „Like brides to be or what?"

I shrugged with a smile, „Call it what you want to."

„Shut up!" JJ yelled.

I put my hands up in defense and just shrugged before taking a sip of my soda. After a few moments my phone rang and I groaned when I saw the caller id.

I debated for a minute, but JJ took the phone from me, answered and handed it back while mouthing ‚you're welcome'.

I glared at her and mockingly mouthed back ‚you're welcome' before I put my phone to my ear and sighed.

„Prentiss," I said biting my thumb.

„Maya, hey," I heard on the other side before JJ slapped my hand.

„Ow," I said raising my eyebrows at her, „Sorry, hey Aaron. What's up?"

„Put him on speaker," Emily whispered trying to steal the phone from my hand.

„Move out of my personal space you idiot," I whispered back wrestling her for the phone, „You're crazy."

I could hear Hotch speaking while I was trying to get my phone back so I put it on speaker just to humor her and spoke again.

„Sorry, sir. It's just not a great time. I have a relative over at my place and, well, you heard," I said glancing at Emily.

„Oh, sorry. I'll be quick," he said, „I didn't know you had kids in your family"

JJ and I held in a chuckle while Emily looked deeply offended, „Yeah me neither. So what is it?"

„I need you to come to my office before work starts tomorrow," we heard from the other end of the phone.

„Respectfully sir, I have plans. So if you wanna reprimanded or lecture me we can do that later," I said.

„No. I actually, well," he sighed, „What I meant to say is I'd appreciate if you could come because I wanna talk to you."
