Jay's POV

It's not true. She's not going to hate me. She's going to love me. I'll make her love me.

From the moment I laid my eyes on her, I fell in love. She reminded me of Hana. Her beauty, the sparkle and joy in her eyes, the way she cared for everyone around her. Every bit of her was perfect. But unlike Hana, I won't lose her. She'll stay with me forever.

I lay back down on my bed, taking a deep breath. I won't let Jake's words rile me. He doesn't understand the pain of losing someone you loved. He doesn't understand the desperation to be loved again.

///

I take a deep breath before I open the door to Nabi's room. As I enter, I see her asleep on the floor, her chest rising and falling steadily. She now has a blanket and pillow, something I never provided her with yesterday. Jake must have brought her one last night.

Moving on, I approach her quietly, observing her sleeping face. She looks ever so peaceful asleep. Her breathing is slow and steady, a gentle rhythm that matches the calm rise and fall of her chest. Her eyelashes flutter and a smile graces her lips as if she is dreaming of something sweet. The only sound in the room is the soft whispers of breath coming from her slightly parted lips.

I can't hold back a smile as I watch her. She's so beautiful. Oh, so beautiful.

Even now, I'm reminded of Hana as I look at her. I miss what we had. I had loved her so much, with every bit of my heart and soul. And she loved me back.

But I messed up. As my love grew, so did my obsession. I was obsessed with her and couldn't let her go. And one day, she just left. She had enough of me and just ran away. She disappeared. That was years ago, but I haven't seen or heard from her since. My heart still pangs at the thought.

But unlike Hana, I won't lose Nabi. She'll be with me forever, until the day both of us die.

Suddenly, Nabi shifts in her sleep, pulling me out of my thoughts. Her eyes slowly flutter open, and she immediately spots me standing across the room. Nabi's hands trembled slightly as she met my gaze, her breath quickening just a fraction, though she tried to hide it. In an instant, the small flicker of fear she had shown turns into rage burning in her eyes. She doesn't say a word. Doesn't yell at me, demand anything from me, she just glares at me, her eyes fiery with anger. Somehow, her silence is even worse than I could imagine her yelling to be.

I walk over to the bed beside her, sitting down. I don't want to be the one to speak first. I want to see what she has to say.

It took quite a while, but after a few moments of awful glares, she speaks up. "Untie my hands," she demands, her voice steady, but her fingers were clenched so tightly that her knuckles turned white.

My eyes widen ever so slightly. That was not what I expected to hear from her. Maybe a 'Why am I here?' or 'Please let me go'. Not that. But it's not an irrelevant question. I should've expected to hear the request sooner or later.

"Is that really the first thing you have to say to me?" I ask her.

"Yes." Her answer was determined. Her jaw tightens, and she glares at me with a fiery defiance.

"And why should I do that?"

"If you had a bit of sympathy, you'd untie me."
